This community is focused on games, of all kinds. Any news item or discussion should be related to gaming in some way.

2. No bigotry or harassment, be civil

No bigotry, hardline stance. Try not to get too heated when entering into a discussion or debate.

We are here to talk and discuss about one of our passions, not fight or be exposed to hate. Posts or responses that are hateful will be deleted to keep the atmosphere good. If repeatedly violated, not only will the comment be deleted but a ban will be handed out as well. We judge each case individually.

3. No excessive self-promotion

We want to keep the quality of posts high. Therefore, memes, funny videos, low-effort posts and reposts are not allowed. We prohibit giveaways because we cannot be sure that the person holding the giveaway will actually do what they promise.

5. Mark Spoilers and NSFW

Make sure to mark your stuff or it may be removed.

No one wants to be spoiled. Therefore, always mark spoilers. Similarly mark NSFW, in case anyone is browsing in a public space or at work.

6. No linking to piracy

Don't share it here, there are other places to find it. Discussion of piracy is fine.

We don't want us moderators or the admins of lemmy.world to get in trouble for linking to piracy. Therefore, any link to piracy will be removed. Discussion of it is of course allowed.

It’s mooching off healthcare in the us, it’s a basic need for other countries.

Just pop some health potions

[–] athairmor@lemmy.world 58 points 3 days ago (1 children)

So, they want to take away healthcare young men don’t have so they’ll get jobs that don’t exist. Sounds like a conservative plan.

I only play computer games after I get home from working hard all day.

[–] jaupsinluggies@feddit.uk 18 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I'd be interested to know how I can pay my electricity bill with my free healthcare. Also I need to go to the supermarket today; how do I convert free healthcare into a trolleyful of food?

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 12 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Also where the fuck is this free healthcare?

Once again, we have lawmakers just making spurious if not outright false statements with no repercussions. When your words decide people's reality, you should be afraid of what you say. And I don't see that fear in legislators.

They just say whatever the fuck incorrect bullshit they wish, and walk it back at their leisure when the effect is already resolved in throughout news media. The world's gotten their soundclip, the base started foaming when they heard their whistles, and then the politican quietly amends "oh, I obviously didn't mean that." If more politicans shut the fuck up because they were scared of the repercussions of walking their statements back, then maybe there'd be more reporting on what they've done then the inflammatorily idiotic shit they spew every other day.

Yes, that's why they're at home all day, and ignoring all the well paid jobs out there with free healthcare that I'm sure they'd get if they just went door to door with a résumé like these ghouls pretend they did in the 1950s.

As a father of two young men... Good!

Healthcare is a right. Especially in the richest nation in the history of humanity.

Can these monsters please just fuck off!

[–] lightnsfw@reddthat.com 18 points 3 days ago

What free healthcare?

[–] Donkter@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

Yeah! We gotta give people the choice to work or die due to lack of medical care! That's never been done before! What's that called?

[–] who@feddit.org 39 points 3 days ago

Man collecting handsome salary and amazing healthcare in exchange for betraying his entire country tries to shift the public focus onto people trying to make their lives less miserable with video games.

[–] KingThrillgore@lemmy.ml 15 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Wait, I can get free healthcare playing video games? Where?!?

Y'all got free healthcare?

[–] JIMMERZ@lemmy.world 13 points 3 days ago

Where is this free healthcare? Because I'm paying out the ass for my very minimal coverage.

[–] Tattorack@lemmy.world 13 points 3 days ago

Shut the fuck up, boomer. No seriously, get that dated, old man yells at cloud bullshit out of politics.

Oooh, I'm one of those! Gaming on foodstamps and social health in a US state, AMA.

[–] match@pawb.social 13 points 3 days ago (1 children)

How does it feel being rich???

[–] dzsimbo@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Truly wonderful.

You need the gaming in this lifestyle to help divert attention from not being able to get comfort foods at month's end.

Otherwise it leaves me all the time to realize the physical and mental hells I am putting myself through. I've been qualified for free health care for over a year, but I just arrived to the point where I can reach out and engage the system. I initially thought enrolling would come in handy if I get into an accident, but last week I made the call to start preventive treatments.

I have an appointment with an actual doctor next month. I am also getting the ball rolling on the emotional side. I was contemplating moving back home, but now I might give this current iteration some more time.

edit: i just reread the title (of course I didn't read the article); I'm 40.

[–] Surp@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

I mean I do know a lot of people with no real jobs that game all day and they have some sorta shitty health care that doesn't really get them proper treatment if that counts

[–] theotherbelow@lemmynsfw.com 7 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Its a lot more rewarding than choking on a small carrot.

What's an enormous brain he has, it's amazing that it fits in his itty bitty head.

So living in the UK which has free healthcare I can tell everybody that it's super easy to do this.

Obviously I don't have a job so I can't afford food, so I just starve myself until I nearly die, and then the NHS turn up and put me in one of those pokeball rehabilitation things and I'm good to go.

[–] TheObviousSolution@lemmy.ca 10 points 3 days ago

So basically, they are mooching off of free healthcare - by performing by one of the most risk free activities that is almost going to guarantee they won't need healthcare in the first place?

MAGA tactic:

Take negative stereotype, say it is preventing a desirable goal from being reached, then say it is because of what you are actually trying to cut. Doesn't matter if they barely have any real relation to each other.

What we can? How? I've been eating ramen and hemorrhaging savings paying for cobra
