You still owe money for taxes and insurance, and of course you have to pay for the upkeep. It’s interesting that home ownership isn’t an asset since you’re not renting it out, but investing the same amount of money is considered an asset.

Yup and patriarchy. My father is low functioning and constantly has temper tantrums/outbursts, and it baffled me why the family was run by him. If he was a woman he wouldn’t be the head of anything.

Re capitalism, I never understood why people wanted to have a house and car. It also doesn’t make sense to have most of your assets sitting in real estate and not diversified.

It fits with the absurdity of some folks obsession with trans in sports.

The onion had an article about a trans girl who transitioned solely to win medals at swimming events. The article ended with her saying she didn’t know how to swim.

I thought this was part 2 of the onion. I guess it’s not.

This got me thinking. I move every 4-8 years and adapt to the new living conditions. I suspect this hedges against any unknown issues my living conditions have that I’m unaware of. For example, I never filtered my water until I moved someplace where it was necessary and I just kept the habit. Maybe I should have been filtering water my entire life but moving forced me to create this habit.

Go to meetup.com (or your local events page) and find activities that you’re genuinely interested in. Become a regular. Talk to everyone and do that activity. It’ll take time to find people you connect with, but keep attending events and keep meeting people. It’s a numbers game.

Also boarding the animals is also an option.
