In a 45-page indictment filed in the Eastern District of Virginia, Lucas and six co-defendants were charged with conspiring to distribute and possess marijuana, conspiring to launder money, laundering money, and committing bribery by distributing large quantities of illegal marijuana under the auspices of her legal medical cannabis business.

Lucas, an 82-year-old great-grandmother, has served in the Virginia Senate since 1992. She faces five of the eight charges included in the indictment. These charges arrive five months after the FBI raided Lucas’s office in Portsmouth, Virginia, and the neighboring cannabis dispensary she co-owns.

After some experiences at a cannabis club, and some other types of member's clubs, I figured there may be a need for a suite like this to manage dues, snackbar tabs, etc.

https://codeberg.org/CannaClub/CannaDocs/src/tag/26.10.02/README.md

This release is mostly feature complete, and the older tag should still be usable if you prefer that, instead. This tag has shared components broken out, and a suite of end to end tests built.

Features planned: equipment library (bongs, vaporizer, dab rigs, etc), and currently getting served any products by the budtender only adds it to the tab. I'll be planning on breaking that out into its own "tab" system to aid member work hours or such.

New feature requests welcomed. A demo site is live at cannaclub.dev if you want to check it out (Currently running 26.10.01, will be upgraded to new release soon). Bug reports also welcomed as are PRs.

Enjoy, and stay elevated!

This is the crown bud. That speed square is 6" per side, for scale.

I chopped a little early because I was worried about bud rot, it's real wet.

Two more weeks

Republicans revived reefer madness just as legal cannabis became popular with their own voters.

Ohio marijuana continues to be significantly more expensive than Michigan, according to pricing data. The cheapest ounce in Ohio is $112. The cheapest ounce in Michigan is $6.99. Meanwhile, Ohio Republican lawmakers have outlawed buying from other states

A new study from the University of Iowa suggests businesses do better in states that legalize medicinal marijuana.

Professor Tong Yao says it’s not likely the result of offices full of potheads helping their employers be more productive. Mr. Yao, a professor of finance, said legalizing medical marijuana instead sends a signal about the state’s culture that attracts creative and productive people to live and work there.

“In addition to providing a host of medical benefits, legalizing marijuana can also give the state a ‘cool image,'” Mr. Yao said, in a Tippie College of Business blog post. “Highly skilled and creative human capital is especially appreciative of open, new, and divergent policies, such as legalized medical marijuana, and that can potentially help states retain and attract more productive and creative workers.”

Mr. Yao said the study looked only at states that legalized marijuana for medical use and not for recreational use.

Mr. Yao is the Keith L. Cook Professor of Finance at the University of Iowa’s Tippie College of Business.

The Study

Mr. Yao looked at the financial results of more than 13,000 publicly traded companies between 2001 and 2022 and found that when states legalized medical marijuana:

• Corporate valuation increased in 21 of 38 states. * Gross profit per employee and gross sales per employee each increased by more than $8,000.
• Patents increased by 10.4% across all 38 states, and the economic value of those patents increased by 22%, as states with legalized medical marijuana were more likely to retain existing inventors and attract new inventors from other states who are productive and create more value.

He said party politics seemed to play little role in the results, as the findings applied to states regardless of whether they had a Democrat or Republican governor.

Mr. Yao said that California, the first state to legalize medical marijuana in 1996, had a burst of creativity and business growth in the years that followed. The effect has become weaker over time, however. As more states legalize weed for medical purposes, the benefits are less dramatic.

Mr. Yao’s study, “Do firms get high? The impact of medical marijuana legalization on firm performance and corporate innovation,” was published in the journal Financial Management. His co-authors are Jue Wang, a former Tippie doctoral student now at Nankai University in China, and Shagun Pant of the University of Illinois.

Abstract

“We find that state-level medical marijuana legalization has a positive financial impact on firms, likely by affecting firms’ human capital. Firms headquartered in marijuana-legalizing states receive higher market valuations, improve employee productivity, and increase innovation. Exploiting inventor mobility data, we directly test the human capital channel and find that states legalizing marijuana are able to retain inventors who become more productive and recruit more innovative talents from out of state.”

Only thing I love more'n weed is a good view

...so I don't get high anymore. Y'know, I just smoke and smoke and smoke, and y'know, I don't get high anymore. That day we run outta weed and money at the same time is going to be hell, but therein, that's something God had me solve in learning to juggle after maybe my third acid trip. Having developed several arts now in present after having been a worthless man in my early twenties - a product of chronic masturbation and an addiction to video games (dopaminergic pathways, amirite?) - I can say with certainty that I never have nothing.

This was part of an idea I came up with on that acid trip, which wasn't even the most fateful of psychedelic trips I've had, it just made something click, but this idea of never having nothing comes from my perception of how the world is growing increasingly more chaotic as we move into the future. A new technology or discovery or insight into reality could suddenly cause society to lurch in a brave new direction. The rate of change itself is changing; that's what I perceived in holy introspection. And I was having enough problems adapting to the world I was already in, being maladpted by bad parenting and personal choices enhanced by the isolation of neurodivergence, so I thought it wiser to be able to generate a meal on a whim than to bet the farm on having some salary one day.

So, juggling came, as did writing, to expand into the broader performance arts, which I now do here on Lemmy from multiple accounts. This is the one where I'm playing my 💯% authentic, autobiographical character. It's an exaggerated caricature of my past self that I use to market wisdom about philosophy, spirituality, and mental health skills to help past versions of me heal n self-actualize, catcher in the rye style. Likewise, I solved that lonely isolation problem for myself.

And this is where we get to the purpose of this post. It does not matter if you smoke a pound of weed a day, what matters is what you're doing every day. When I learned to juggle, I was getting giraffe pussy levels high every day. And my God is it fun to juggle while zoning out like that. It tickles my schizoautismo brain just perfectly. So, I personally recommend giving juggling a try, cuz who knows when you'll need to make five bucks in ten minutes of juggling on the side of a busy intersection, but the message is, if nothing else, fucking doodle or something while you're a little stoned or high as balls. Something you enjoy passively doing.

That ish can grow into something that can pay for your weed by itself even if you don't see how from your current vantage point. You create and strengthen neural connections when you do something, and the cool thing about weed is that it naturally impairs linear thinking in a way that promotes the brain to try and make lateral connections, which will manifest alternate and novel ways of thinking, which bestows greater perspective of what you can do with your art.

Thems the real seeds you should be planting.

Spring cleaning came with some perks 😎

It's nothing pretty and it's been tucked away in the dark for a year and a half, but it still smells and vapes sweet and smooth

Gonna dope it up with some terpy live resin later for a dry herb vape session

I expect compost pile plants but this is really out of the way, I guess some seeds made their way here somehow. I'm keeping it 👍

As you can see, it's pretty awesome

Sometimes aliens tell me to smoke

But the wise know that's just a joke

Have a seat an' let's share this toke

I smoke pages of the Bible for God

When they say do jobs so very odd

To heal souls who know not flaw'd

Claws in a canister, my cat's a cop

TL listens to all my songs that flop

I hear em too, as they drop to plop

On screen as these are my lyricals

And how I got to perform miracles

Is from living mi life more spiritual

Healed from feelings beyond dark

Can't drive, can't even parallel park

Grateful cuz God carry from t start

And so each puff comes and pass

Middle Way got me rising in class

But t CIA separates societal trash

There's this thing called Illuminati

Have you ever lived in community

As in, harmony, living intentionally

Sustainability that's what the cult

Taught me about being real adult

Gotta go to a court about assault

But my mind fine as I read t Bible

New over old, but reason steeple

Controls all the highest of people

Is because We have, in t occident

Made occult hidden - no accident

Magick t assures each president

Is selected not elected; it's ritual

It is the method they use control

Molecule to cell you to the whole

But shake waking you up yet love

I just speak; words come f above

Or was that one joint not enough

I’ve been growing for 15 years and have grown many purple strains, but this is the first time I see pistils this color this early in development. She’s gorgeous. (Strain: Nori Cake by Greenhouse seeds)
