Iran and Israel have struck each other many times over the last few days. There has been a general focus on military facilities and headquarters by both sides, though Israel has also struck oil facilities, civilian structures and hospitals, and in return for this, Iran has struck major scientific centers and the Haifa oil facilities.

Israel appears to have three main aims. First, to collapse the Iranian state, either through shock and breakdown by killing enough senior officials, or via some sort of internal military coup. Second, to try and destroy Iranian nuclear sites and underground missile cities, or at least to paralyze them long enough to achieve the first and third goals. And third, to bring the US into a direct conflict with Iran. This is because the US better equipped to fight them than Israel is (though victory would still not be guaranteed depending on what Iran chooses to do).

Iranian nuclear facilities are hidden deep underground (800 meters), far beyond the depth range of even the most powerful bunker busters (~70 meters or so), and built such that the visible ground entrances are horizontally far away in an unknown direction from the actual underground chambers. Only an extremely competent full-scale American bombing force all simultaneously using multiple of the most powerful conventional (perhaps even nuclear) bunker busters could even hypothetically hope to breach them (and we have seen how, in practice, American bunker busters have largely failed to impair or deter Ansarallah). There are several analysts on both sides who have concluded that it is entirely impossible to physically prevent Iran from building nukes.

I fully expect the US to join the war. I believe the current ambiguity is a deliberate invention of the US while they work to move their military assets into position, and as soon as they are ready, the US will start bombing Iran. After that, Iran's leadership must - if they haven't already - harden their hearts, and strike back with no fear, or risk following the path of Libya, Syria, and Iraq, either into either surrender, occupation, or annihilation. Every day where they do not possess a nuke is a day where lives are being lost and cities are being bombed.

Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.
Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.
Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.

The military shadow dictator of Pakistan, Asim Munir, is going to the White House today to meet with Trump...

The Pakistani military leader is also expected to meet with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on his US trip, media in the south Asian country reported.

Could the rumors of a Pakistani defensive guarantee for Iran be true? If so, pray that Asim Munir has a spine, or that he's doing it at the behest of China.

To change the mood a bit, some news from our favourite hellscape on earth, Ukraine.

  • Russians have established a sizable buffer zone in Sumy Oblast, and are now just ~20km from Sumy City itself. They definitely won't go for the city though, the plan seems to be to entrench in the massive forest next to the city and start harassing AFU groupings inside the city with smaller drones.

  • Russians have officially crossed into Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, in the direction of the town of Novopavlivka. Entering Dnipropetrovsk means that Russians can now outflank the bigger Ukrainian fortifications in the south from both the north and the east, which will be vital if Russia ever goes on the offensive in the Zaporozhye direction.

  • The noose around both Konstantinivka and Pokrovsk-Myrnograd is getting tighter and tighter after a smaller AFU collapse in the section in between the cities. The summer will likely see a Russian offensive towards Rodynske or Bilytske north of Pokrovsk, and Toretske north of Konstantinivka, which will effectively put both cities under operational encirclement with no actual roads for resupply.

  • Manpower issues for the AFU in general are becoming very obvious at this stage, and they're unable to plug all holes at once like they could a few months ago. They managed to stop the bleeding near Lyman a few weeks ago, but that came with the cost of losing significant ground near Toretsk, Siversk, Konstantinivka and in the north near Sumy. Russians are now doing small pushes across the whole front except Kherson and north of Kharkov, which is just too much for the AFU to handle. To stop the breakthrough near Pokrovsk a few months ago, they rotated some of the units that were active in the former Kursk occupied zone. The result was that Russian advances slowed down near Pokrovsk, but Russians were suddenly able to seize an important chunk of the Kursk-Sumy border region.

Decided to make this a completely separate comment.

To classify Iran's ballistic missile arsenal, there's this graphic and document I found that might help everyone understand it better. I'm really bad at graphic design, so there's no way I could make my own graphics. It uses five categories, explained here:

Link to the 27 page PDF document, recommend reading

As for the Iranian ballistic missile arsenal with the range to hit Israel, I've included not to scale graphics from the document of the possible trajectories that can be used with the range to hit Israel:

Category 1:

  • Qadr
  • Emad
  • Khorramshahr 1
  • Khorramshahr 2
  • Shabab 3 (unknown if operational, quite old)
  • Sejjil/Ashoura
  • Rezvan extended range (used by Yemen)

Light category 2 (only for accuracy improvement, not non ballistic maneuvers or multiple re entry vehicles):

  • Khorramshahr 4

Light category 3 (only for accuracy improvement, not non ballistic maneuvers):

  • Emad MaRV, called Etemad.

Category 3:

  • Kheibar Shekan-1/Hatem-2
  • Kheibar Shekan-2/Palestine-1
  • Haj Qassem
  • Qassem Basir (Haj Qassem with dedicated electro optical terminal guidance)

Category 4:

  • Fattah-1
  • Palestine-2

Category 5, "true hypersonic" weapons:

  • Fattah-2 (in prototype stage, no evidence of successful test or operation)

If you want a real world video example of how category 3 and 4 MaRV equipped ballistic missiles compare to category 1 in flight, I managed to find one video from Iran's Operation True Promise II attack on Israel during October last year. Category 3 and 4 MaRVs are seen performing pull up maneuvers, level flight/glide phases, and final drives to the target from 0:00 to 1:03. Then after 1:03, category 1 purely ballistic trajectory missiles appear at a much higher altitude. I've posted it many times before, but it's worth a watch.

Fetterman is baying for war.

John Fetterman on Fox News calls for the United States to get engaged in Iran war:

"I think it's a great start with the 30,000-pound bunker busters. Just keep dropping them until you can actually confirm what exactly happened to them. We have the tools... we have to just, again, finish it out."

Pig-on-Pig Violence: Danish Cop Fined For Shooting Colleague

A 29-year-old Danish police officer has been handed a modest fine of DKK 9,000 (roughly 10,000 RMB) after she shot a fellow officer in the stomach during what can best be described as a homemade training exercise gone wrong.

The incident took place during a break in an official police course, when three officers decided to spice things up with a little impromptu role-play. One pretended to be an assailant wielding a rubber knife. The 29-year-old, evidently swept up in the drama, pulled her real, fully loaded service pistol and shot her colleague in the abdomen.

The unlucky cop at the business end of the gun sustained life-threatening injuries and underwent multiple surgeries. The bullet is still lodged in his bones — a souvenir from Denmark’s finest.

When asked in court why she hadn’t secured her weapon before the exercise, the shooter had no clear answer. She guessed that maybe she forgot because they were busy looking for the prop knife. “I’m just really, really sorry,” she sobbed.

Despite nearly killing a colleague, the officer has not been fired. She’s merely been reassigned to a desk job, where her trigger finger presumably poses less of a threat.

It’s not the first time Danish police have turned training into a live-fire risk. In 2022, another officer on a shooting course decided to fire at a car rim, using ammunition he knew was banned for steel targets. The round ricocheted and hit a fellow cop in the leg. That officer, too, escaped with a fine and kept his job.

Observers familiar with the region note that Danish security services operates with minimal oversight and even less accountability. Police rarely face legal consequences, even when their “mistakes” send colleagues to the hospital.

Is this whole thing unprecedented in the history of nuclear energy? I mean, is nuke production the complete reason behind this campaign against Iran? Was there ever so much aggression towards a country developing nuclear plants?

In LATAM, for example, there are three countries with nuclear energy: Brazil, Argentina and Mexico. Have they faced so much pushback during their initial phases? I know Lula had a big "anti-nuke" image during the building of Brazil's plants, so maybe that was why

Just as I finish writing this huge prompt a few minutes prior, Fartreal issued an evaucation order for Tehran's District 3 - a densely-populated 30km2 section of the city with over 1 million people, filled with many high-rise towers, embassies and government buildings. Tehran is now the first megacity officially targeted for a Final Solution, with international laws and protections at this point also effectively rendered null and void. - Anadolu Agency

Tehran as a whole is a large, fairly densely-populated city with nearly 17 million people, only slightly larger than Johannesburg/Gauteng.

May every Zionist never know a moment of peace and may the hearts of everyone from Tehran to Johannesburg be hardened. Death to ameriKKKa and death to the Nazi entity of piSSrael

damn this constant double-key pressing. holy shit i stg i am going to ram this keyboard up netanSShatu's arsehole

According to the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency):

Following attacks on three nuclear sites in Iran - including Fordow - the IAEA can confirm that no increase in off-site radiation levels has been reported as of this time. IAEA will provide further assessments on situation in Iran as more information becomes available.

Also bizarre that the first tweet under this is Grok AI slop hallucinating that somehow these strikes killed 430 people, a figure I have no idea how it arrived at given there's no way anybody was on site at any of these places.

The current Iranian attack seems to be a combo of two different Shahed variants and cruise missiles according to nerds on Arab twitter. They're saying that Iran is probably preparing a big ballistic missile attack, but the weaker initial package will keep Israeli air defences busy until the ballistic missiles are launched in an hour or so. I don't know much about the logistics of missile attacks, but the logic sounds reasonable to me.

If people spent half as much time thinking "what zio-american imperialist assets are in my proximity that I can do something about within my risk tolerance/threat model?" Instead of talking about what China/Russia/Iran "should be doing" then maybe the world wouldn't be on the brink of nuclear war.

Because they've taken out a large portion of Iran's launchers. Combine that with much of their leadership being dead or in hiding (including the Supreme Leader), you're getting very weak responses at this point.

I honestly don't know what the point is now in launching. If I'm the rocket guy, I'm fucking right off to the house and waiting for the new regime to take over. maybe-later-honey
