real Wilhoit's Law hours

[–] niph@hexbear.net 70 points 1 week ago

This seems stupid on the face of it but would just be used as more cover to prosecute people based on social media posts. Fascism 101

[–] came_apart_at_Kmart@hexbear.net 68 points 1 week ago (1 children)

you must wear your authentic and chipped "Proud Owner of a Soda Stream" patch in public to use public transit, operate a vehicle, conduct business, shop, and pass through neighborhood checkpoints.

Upon entering any building individuals will be required to declare their love for Sabra and that you used Waze to arrive at the location.

Google bought it up like a decade ago but it was originally made by an Israeli company.

[–] DragonBallZinn@hexbear.net 58 points 1 week ago (6 children)

How are they even going to enforce that? Regardless, these are the people who tell you “just don’t buy it if you don’t like it!”

[–] FlakesBongler@hexbear.net 73 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Easiest way would be to just target prominent people who are spreading the word about BDS

It's a scare tactic to make people afraid of participating

[–] TommyBeans@hexbear.net 29 points 1 week ago

Yep. Just a way of linking social media posts to an action most people are willing to take. Not everyone who is Anti-Israel can or will go to protests, so they gotta have some crumble of an action to arrest someone over their thoughts.

For the rest it’s a solid warning.

[–] someone@hexbear.net 64 points 1 week ago

How are they even going to enforce that?

With violence.

This is no era for naivete.

pigs standing next to the hummus ready to dump a magazine into anyone that doesn't reach for the sabra

[–] Xiisadaddy@lemmygrad.ml 35 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Lots of these laws are not written the idea to be enforced on every single person but to be something they can easily slap someone with that they want in prison for whatever other reason. Are you a leftist in general? Well were gonna charge you with this and since you cant prove you never participated in BDS you go to prison. Guilty til proven innocent and all.

[–] DragonBallZinn@hexbear.net 14 points 1 week ago (1 children)

So much for the free speech right!

[–] mathemachristian@hexbear.net 28 points 1 week ago (1 children)

They can't check why you didn't buy sabra hummus or hp printer, but if you suggest in an email or some other traceable way to your boss to stop importing stuff from Israel you've just broken the law.

Or if you talk to the wrong person about BDS or why you dont buy such and such brand.

[–] Blep@hexbear.net 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Why would i buy a printer?

[–] SoyViking@hexbear.net 4 points 1 week ago

To show how much you love "Israel", of course

[–] SoyViking@hexbear.net 8 points 1 week ago

“just don’t buy it if you don’t like it!”

The thing is that they want you to like them. It is not enough for them to have all the guns and bombs and tanks. It is not enough for them to occupy Palestine and be able to carry out a genocide with impunity. It is not enough for them to make dissent illegal. They will only be happy when you actually sincerely love them for securing the future for white children between the river and the sea.

yeonmi-park In authoritarian America, critics of the regimes’ imperial allies are captured and turned into political prisoners.

[–] Lussy@hexbear.net 52 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Rights groups say

Brother, aren’t you a journalist, shouldn’t you know the existing fucking law?

[–] Anomalocaris@lemm.ee 3 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

tbf, theres no longer such thing as law in the US

[–] WizardOfLoneliness@hexbear.net 46 points 1 week ago

the anti BDS laws not being struck down as blatantly unconstitutional should be all the proof it takes to prove to liberals that our rights were fake and we were fascist before Trump

[–] VILenin@hexbear.net 46 points 1 week ago

Getting summarily executed leaving the grocery store because I didn’t buy the genocide hummus

Attention to all feds: i dont shop at target because it makes me feel uncomfy to be in a building with so many women, not because i am participating in a boycott

[–] Des@hexbear.net 41 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The eventual idea is that multiple easily prosecutable felonies are hanging over every single person's head at all times, universally, without exception.

So you just hope the Eye of the State never falls upon you. Oh and btw there will also be random "raids" and "contraband checks" just to keep you nervously shaking, eyeing your door at all times after 12 am because death could arrive at any moment.

[–] ThermonuclearEgg@hexbear.net 32 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Isn't it already like this, but selectively only applied to people of color?

Friendly reminder that if you use social media keep as low of a profile as humanly possible if you live in the usa.

[–] Anomalocaris@lemm.ee 3 points 1 week ago

i live in constant fear (I'm in a very vulnerable legal status). deleted all my social media, except this one which I try to keep as anonymous as possible.

Carnists will be forced to eat Sabra at gunpoint.

[–] Eiren@lemmygrad.ml 13 points 1 week ago

Well, to be clear, there aren't any vegans who eat Sabra.

There are plenty of plant-based dieters who do, though.
