For 3 days I've been hovering over the checkout button on £800 of computer parts I can't afford so that I can play starfield properly.

Don't do it dude(tte). Save up for it. The game will still be there in a while, it will have received some bugfixing patches, mods will be developed, and on top of that the parts will probably be cheaper by then.

I can't remember where I first heard that from, but its been my go-to for years. Funnily enough, it's kinda become an almost comforting thought now that I do actually feel like I know who I am.
