I love how LinkedIn sends ten emails a day with names of very promising jobs, then when I click on them and go through the log-in prompt, it just takes me to the home page, and then I go back and click on the job while logged in, and it was posted 8 months ago and is no longer accepting applications.

(I also love ‘you were searched by people from these companies!’ - so useful, and I’m sure that’s accurate!)

Job hunting is very sane and rational.

Everyone warns about the dangers of doomscrolling.

I understand why.

I've spent countless nights doing it myself.

You start with innocent news updates.

Then suddenly it's political outrage.

Then celebrity scandals.

Then conspiracy theories.

Then more outrage.

But nothing signals rock bottom quite like ending up on LinkedIn at 3 AM.

That moment when you're mindlessly consuming "I'm humbled to announce" posts.

That realization when you catch yourself envying someone's "career journey" update.

That horror when you almost comment "Congrats on this amazing achievement!" on a stranger's certification post.

This is the final stage of digital despair.

The algorithm has won.

Tomorrow I'll be better.

(But we both know I won't)

Linkedin is seriously a frustrating place. People humble-bragging and virtue-signalling to their colleagues and future bosses makes me want to puke.

You have "certifications" where everyone who clicks through the material gets a certification. No effort, no test, nothing required whatsoever. And these people act like they did something.

All heil the Algorithm

That joke feels wierd now. Thanks Elon

Having my first child taught me the crucial skill of delegation. Prior to this I carried that child around for nine months, but I didn't let that get in the way of things. I never missed a meeting, not even during labour. I'm still working upwards of 12 hours per day and that's because I know how to market my child. When a company grows, the founder and leaders are rewarded. The same is true of children. At only four months old my child has a projected net worth of 20 million, and I have crowds of investors looking for a place in their life. Creating market value is a key aspect of a child that many first-time parents overlook.

And they only need to have 49 more children to get there!

I agree.

Here’s what this agreement taught me about b2b sales:

Why in the first place people still use Linkedin? I used it once, and to be honest is just Facebook but for applying to work easier

[–] superduperpirate@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

My employer has a subscription to LinkedIn Learning, otherwise I would’ve disabled my account.

[–] ignotum@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

I had to open it once a couple of weeks ago, ever since they've been sending me daily emails "you're on a roll!", "continue your login streak" or something like that

Sadly i'm too lazy to open it back up and disable email spam so i'll just stop checking my inbox instead
