You, as the chosen one, will have to save the world from "the bad guys". Would you succeed or fail? Or join the dark side? Would you try so hard that you become corrupted by evil?

My answer: I'd fail and the universe is fucked because I'm just a pile of sadness. 😓

Immediately take the blue pill.

If I'm the one who has to save the world than it's already fucked. I'd rather not watch.

They're gonna WISH I was a bad guy

Maxing CON and CHA/WIS

Becoming an immovable and unstoppable lecture monster, going to every world leader and energy-vampiring my way to the top, when there, destroy all obsolete power structures and lecture the world till they realize they can leave free with no need of chains.

Anyone who tries to stop me will inevitably crumble before my philosophy and either cave in and join me or destroy themselves trying to destroy me

As I am right now? Hell no!

But there'd be a question gnawing at the back of my head: "If I am the chosen one, why?!" I'd probably hold on to that question as I try to do what I can to save the world. There must be a reason, right? There must be something that I can do.

Moreover, if it's known to everyone (or at least to the ones that are powerful enough to make a difference), I'd leverage that fact to have them do something. Like, "Yeah, the Chosen One needs you to be his companion" or some cheesy shit like that. And in that case, I'd probably end up more as someone inspiring (or pushing) others to save the world rather than the actual person saving the world (not that I believe any one person can, tbh).

I feel like I’d be Asta from Black Clover - too dumb and stubborn to give up.

Ezpz

Do I have plot armor? Any powers? What does being chosen one give me actually?

I'm a plumber. If I'm the chosen one all of a sudden they y'all screwed.

[–] Hossenfeffer@feddit.uk 9 points 10 hours ago

It's-a you, Mario?

[–] Hossenfeffer@feddit.uk 3 points 10 hours ago

With great responsibility (hopefully) comes great power, as my auntie Ben used to say. I'd rock it.

[–] GregorGizeh@lemmy.zip 11 points 14 hours ago

If i get god like powers, yes I'll fix shit. If I'm a standard person trying to save the world on my own, def not.

[–] BarrelRollNebula@sopuli.xyz 7 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

I would be overwhelmed as one would be, placed in my position. Such a heavy burden now to be the One. Born to bear and bring to all the details of our ending, to write it down for all the world to see.

But knowing me, I would forget my pen, shit the bed again.

Typical.

[–] Glent@lemmy.ca 2 points 11 hours ago

Aye indeed. The prophecy of maynard. So it is written, so it shall be done. Ramen.

[–] AnthropomorphicCat@lemmy.world 14 points 16 hours ago

Save the world from what? Also, do I get any cool powers with that? I worry that it will be like "ONLY YOU CAN SAVE THE WORLD, but you're still a normal average human, so good luck with that lmao."

[–] otacon239@lemmy.world 19 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

We are literally all the chosen one. The Matrix wasn’t there to teach us that Neo was The One. It was to teach us that anyone could be.

The only way to see change in your world is to act on it. Maybe you can’t fix politics, but you can help loved ones. You can plant trees. You can donate your money or time.

Even if there are others out there who have more resources to do more and aren’t doesn’t mean you can’t make yourself feel better by making the small contributions.

And even if you tell yourself that you’re just doing those things to make yourself feel better and they don’t right away, the important thing is your action. That’s all anyone else can see.

Indeed, we are all doing our part—by avoiding Reddit lol. *Keeps scrolling*

[–] meyotch@slrpnk.net 9 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

I could probably dig down deep in my soul and find hidden reserves of strength that I did not know existed.

But it’s kind of late already and the weather isn’t so good today, so I’ll probably just binge watch some stuff.

[–] IDKWhatUsernametoPutHereLolol@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

Lol I want to watch a tv show/movie about the Chosen One just being a procrastinator 😁

[–] meyotch@slrpnk.net 1 points 8 hours ago

Ha! If well done that could be funny. A show about the chosen one being super lazy, being watched by people who also imagine they could be the One, but the timing is just not good right now.

[–] Glent@lemmy.ca 1 points 11 hours ago

Several billion monkeys hell bent on self destruction. Aint no one person doing shit.

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 7 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

I’d only save the world on the condition that I get to leave when I’m done.

[–] slazer2au@lemmy.world 1 points 11 hours ago

Retreat to a secret bunker under the Himalayan Mountains afterwards only to reemergence in 20,000 years with thunder warriors

[–] Lumidaub@feddit.org 4 points 16 hours ago

Who chose me? How do they support me? Who are the bad guys? Are they really the "bad" guys? Have I lived in this world my whole life or is this an isekai? Am I alone or in a party? Would I need to learn martial arts? Is there magic? How does it work and can I learn it? Do I receive a magic steed? I need more information.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 5 points 18 hours ago* (last edited 18 hours ago) (3 children)

If I was the "chosen one" then free will is an illusion and no matter what I do, it will save the world. Like, that's the whole thing that is kinda lame about the whole "chosen one" trope.

[–] Hossenfeffer@feddit.uk 1 points 10 hours ago

Depends entirely who's done the choosing and on what basis.

[–] Jolteon@lemmy.zip 1 points 11 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago)

The wheel of time did extremely well with that. The pattern (the world's version of fate) allows people to make choices, but certain people have the circumstances around them adjusted, forcing them on to certain paths.

[–] KingJalopy@lemm.ee 2 points 16 hours ago

That has always driven me crazy. Avatar the last Airbender did a good job of trying to negate that trope but mostly it's just ridiculous.

[–] vivavideri@lemmy.world 3 points 16 hours ago

If you give me the tools, the time, and permission, I'll fuckin' handle it.

[–] Iheartcheese@lemmy.world 4 points 18 hours ago
[–] ThePowerOfGeek@lemmy.world 3 points 17 hours ago

Oh hell no! I might begrudgingly take a stab at it, but I'd throw my hands up and say "fuck it!" within about 6 hours.

[–] singletona@lemmy.world 1 points 16 hours ago

oh we're going for a 'chosen one' narritive are we?

What's the inciting call to adventure? What kind of boons am I getting?

Personally? can't answer it, but the final temptation I'd have would be whatever 'the evil' or whatever... pointing out.

'You don't really think the world CAN be saved... why not just burn it all down? End it quickly and start over.'

[–] bizarroland@fedia.io 1 points 17 hours ago

I would succeed because no one ever notices me. Like 7 days in, the BBEG would be dead, the world would assume it's natural causes.
