They really are speedrunning fascism this time around. They did have plenty of time to prepare out in the open and gained public support with no long term repercussions.

ah, freedom of speech at its finest

A lot of people here thinking the USA is speed running fascism here.

No, the USA was always an inspiration to fascism (just ask the remaining Native Americans as an example).

That's why it was able to adopt into it so quick. Not that hard to change a car to gasoline if it was already running on diesel.

Not that hard to change a car to gasoline if it was already running on diesel.

Is almost a good analogy, but that's not so easy 😅

[–] Spezi@feddit.org 18 points 1 month ago (3 children)

Frying fat would have been better, because most older diesels run on it out of the box.

Well it did take awhile, but it's definitely easier than turning a horse into an electric car

just have to replace the engine, how hard could it be? /s

better analogy would be converting a (relatively modern) gas engine to E85, it's simpler, from what i understand

Before WW2 broke out, the New York Times LOVED Mussolini. They kept pumping out articles about how much of a cool guy he was.

[–] Potatar@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (4 children)

What if we called the original people Americans, and the newcomers immigrant Americans?

Clarity: Native American -> American

American -> Immigrant American

[–] LifeInMultipleChoice@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago (2 children)

All life on land is an immigrant is it not?

From the same people who scream and bitch and moan about their right of free speech. It's only their right apparently.

What happened to the right to speak the truth?

[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 40 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Their truth.

Their alternative facts.

The actual truth is for snowflakes and liberals to get upset over.

[–] BedSharkPal@lemmy.ca 11 points 4 weeks ago

This. All these losers champion free speech absolutism, and yet every single one of them tries their hardest to shut down dissent.

They know the slower among us will rally around the idea without thinking about it too much.

[–] chiliedogg@lemmy.world 14 points 4 weeks ago

It's not the left to speak.

It's a problem that the purge of those offended by nazis/oligarchs hinting too close to naziism is this early.

[–] kamenlady@lemmy.world 33 points 1 month ago (1 children)

The Nazi speedrun all around the world scares me. It's like they are competing with climate change, for who gets to kill us first.

Had to do some memeological research; that's Yeon-mi Park, a North Korean defector on the Joe Rogan Podcast saying "in North Korea ..."

Cmon this story doesn't even involve a window.

[–] WraithGear@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago (3 children)

Oof… just because the Russians are our enemies now, doesn’t mean they were Nazis during world war II. They fought the Nazi a lot longer than America did for sure.

[–] makyo@lemmy.world 16 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (26 children)

Yeah they fought the Nazis - but first they made a deal with the Nazis to divide eastern Europe and went on a campaign of rape and plunder. You should look into the atrocities committed by the USSR during the 20th century - Germany paid a heavy price for their evils. Russia never did.

doesn’t mean they were Nazis during world war II.

Tell this to anyone in Eastern Europe who is not a Russian ;)

[–] Eheran@lemmy.world 13 points 1 month ago

They were easily just as bad as the Nazis.

...because it's really important that meteorology calculations are done with the correct conservative perspective, lest you predict the weather in too woke a way or start believing in climate change and other elitist liberal dogma?

Everything they accuse china and the opposition of doing it something they do or want to do themselves.

[–] Rozauhtuno@lemmy.blahaj.zone 17 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Every accusation is a confession.
