i feel that the language in the title is not trying to be honest. like “like never seen before…. 4 weeks ago”. it would have been more honest if it said “oil price per barrel over $100 again”

maybe but i would also point out that under the same argument being taught by a teacher, or a tutor would not actually allow a novice to learn either.

and i see very little difference between the text on the page vs text from an ai, except for accessibility.

but like all things, you get out what you put in. if you ask the llm to write you code for something, you don’t get anything out of it, unless you count the amount of time it takes to fix the guaranteed mess of code you get as trouble shooting time.

i find the llm’s are crapp at a lot of things, but when asked it can explain things in a manner that is tailored to the ability of the user. and i have learned quite a lot using llm’s.

what if i try to write code, and when i get stuck, i ask the llm why my method or my syntax failed and it tells me how i ducked up? like a tutor but with forced infinite patience?

it’s not just that either. the current implementation of “ai” is not artifical intelegence. these llm’s do not conceptualize the subject matter they regurgitate. by the very way they operate they can not achieve this. examples of this failure have already been demonstrated with the full glass of wine scenario, and the strawberry scrnario.

they operate on the tokenization of data, and their relationships, but where as a mind can form relationships between these nodes, an llm must be directed to do so. these directions are what they scrape. were it able to conceptualize there would be no need to train the llm’s as throughly as they do.

it’s why we get pizza with the cheese glued on top.

llm’s have their uses. but what is being sold is snake oil in order to cause a bubble for profit. if llms were just fed information with in a very specific scope, it could be a very useful tool without the need for it to scale up anywhere near this badly

what are replenishment rates? it depends on who you ask, and for what. the world can not sustain our current levels of population without massive changes in how we live, but at the same time others argue that to maintain our current way of life, we must match the amount of children to keep the current levels… but also to care for the current amount of people, replenishment rates force a forever growth!!

ultimately any argument for reaching certain amount of replenishment is by definition short sighted. anecdotally these arguments have only been made by people who only care about their comfort at the cost of the future.

the real answer is that the current way of life was never capable of sustainment, and as such there is no need to push for replenishment. we should be incentivizing fewer children. best way i see to do that is to keep the populous highly educated and free from the fear of not being able to provide an idealized life and free medical care. I believe Societies who obtain these qualities find slower or reversed population growth with out draconian measures, or relying on war and famine to cull the weak

mine didn’t look much different. the meme seems to point to exceptional military incompetence as to why it looks like that. but that’s just your average levels of neglect.

so, i can’t impress upon everyone the toll the ocean has on ships. the ocean seems to make it its mission to sink every vessel in it, one steel layer at a time. and paint only lasts so long.

when in a deployment, the scraping and repainting maintenance is not able to be done. and this is a standard result of a ship being out. other then paint discoloration, i don’t see anything wrong with it.
