If there's a greater admission of defeat among rappers than this, I don't know what it could be

That song rocks. It’s the only song I know of theirs though, came up on YouTube while I was listening to other stuff, added it to my playlist but I haven’t explored any of their other songs

Well the lawsuit (and specifically this post) got me finally looking up what the whole drama was (heard people talking but well then)

What a fucking banger (Not Like Us). What a fucking glorious roast.

Saw a lovely remix that started with Drake in Nice for What

Drake: "High school pics, you was bad even then" (x3)

Slight pause

Kendrick: "Say Drake, I hear you like em young"

Drake causing solid evidence of his allegations to be made public by trying to use the legal system against Kendrick truly is a funny development that could happen in this feud.

Canada works 3sswntially the same in this regard. It's not a Canada thing, he's just dumb.

[–] corgiwithalaptop@hexbear.net 32 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Damn they're still going at it?

[–] Mindfury@hexbear.net 34 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Kendrick dropped a new album, Drake is seething and wants to sue both Kendrick and his own overarching record label

[–] anarchoilluminati@hexbear.net 4 points 10 months ago

Oh, shit. He released an album?

I gotta get on this, I've been so busy.

Is this how things work in the US? You can't just subpoena whatever against people who being cases against you?

I'm not going to look at the New York state rules of civil procedure to confirm specifically, but no. Document discovery gives a party to a proceeding the right to access documents in the other party's possession relevant to a material fact at issue in a trial. It is not a pass to demand anything you want from them.

Without knowing the specifics, I doubt Drake's complete text message history is relevant to any material issue on whether UMG conspired with Spotify to boost Kendrick streams.

[–] hollowmines@hexbear.net 22 points 10 months ago

He started a second lawsuit claiming the song is defamatory as well so it might become relevant there.

[–] bbnh69420@hexbear.net 3 points 10 months ago

Would it be relevant to whether the defamation accusations are true?

[–] OutrageousHairdo@hexbear.net 18 points 10 months ago

I would assume most court systems, including that of Canada, also work in approximately this way.
