put all of your election posting here so it doesn't bother anyone else!

from @CoolerOpposide@hexbear.net:

For Agitprop purposes, I’m asking comrades to help aggregate any and all effortpost responses, critiques, or general thoughts that you have seen or written pertaining to yesterday’s U.S. election that you think have standalone value for discussion either online or IRL.

I made a post for that purpose here, and ideally it can be used not only for general discussion, but as a reference for well thought out responses in discussions about the election to save all of us some brainpower.

No shitposts please, as we’d like to highlight some comrades’ actual effort in constructing responses or analysis, but humor is 100% welcome to help make your point!

Alright, I’m heading to bed. I’ll miss the results, but when I wake up, I want the U.S. empire gone and every fascist brought to justice. It’s been good here, and I feel a strong connection to all the comrades in the U.S. who have to witness this going down. Stay strong. Solidarity and love.

President Maduro: I've been asked a lot, 'What’s better for Venezuela? A Trump win or a Harris win? I say whoever wins, what's better for Venezuela and Latin America is to have our own path, not depend on anyone, is to guarantee our countries."

I’ve been watching election coverage since about 7pm. Five and a half hours now. Not a single mention of Palestine as a factor. Not one. Pretty easy to see why Americans are so unbelievably brainwashed when this slop is what passes for news coverage.

I think when Trump said "Just vote this time, after this election you will never have to vote again" just meant that he doesn't care about the next elections and want people to vote for him now, and he doesn't mind if they don't even bother to vote for the next Republican candidate lol

In the /r/politics thread:

I expected the chuds to come in here and gloat, you'd be doing the same thing if Harris had won. But the crying and pussyaching from all you libs is embarrassing. Politicians aren't going to save us. Go talk to your neighbors, get involved in your community. Buy a 3D printer and make untraceable ghost guns, distribute them to the unhoused. Start a garden. Organize. Do anything besides punching down and to the left.

I'm curious how much the libs (will) have down-voted this, but I don't care enough to hang onto or find the comment past the vote visibility cool-off period. Reddit is such shit.

well, my plan was to just go to sleep once it became clear that Harris was gonna coast to victory, but now it looks like the Democrats might well be on their second once-a-century fuckup in a decade, so I can't look away

Nevada Secretary of State is saying they're rejecting a record number of ballots because the handwritten signatures don't match the digital pad signatures from the DMV. Disproportionately affects young people since the digital signature thing is a recent change. Expect results to take days if it isn't close

My turbolib natohawk dad just went "keep your bags packed and money in your wallet in case you have to leave, the biggest shithead has just become the leader of the world" regarding Trump getting elected.

We are in Finland... wtf does he think is going to happen? How are these people real? How are these people this gone that they think the US president is the leader of the world. Unless they only count the west as "the world" (I assume it's this).

I didn't want to stir the pot by asking if nato is still a good idea or where he thinks we should go, Russia? Lol

at Howard University in Washington, D.C., Ms. Harris’s historically Black alma mater where thousands of her supporters had flocked for her own event, a crowd that started the night cheering and dancing fell eerily silent as North Carolina was called for Mr. Trump.

“You won’t hear from the vice president tonight,” one of her campaign co-chairs, Cedric Richmond, told the thinning crowd at about 12:45 a.m.

This is so funny, this fucker is about to win again. I genuinely thought that it was joever for him in the last few days, but you can never count him out. God I will enjoy the meltdown so much, I hope that the Dems lose PA by the exact number of Jill Stein votes just to laugh at them even more.

Welcome to our non-stop election coverage we will be speaking into this camera nonstop for the next 24 hours not a single space no full stops barely any grammar at all just non stop live election coverage we break now to my colleague Julia Julia what are you seeing where you are thanks Greg what an exciting day and we are seeing lots and lots of excitement and energy about our non stop election coverage ok thanks Julia now to Raymond who has prepared some visuals for us thanks Greg as you can see in this chart our coverage is truly non stop and if we run the simulations now these are very early numbers less than 1% into our non stop coverage but we are already seeing one minute and if coverage continues this way over the next 24 hours then our coverage will be truly non stop but there are some very important hours still to come so we will have to see if this trend continues that’s amazing to see thanks Raymond isn’t great to have some maths nerd in a bow tie explain some little pie charts to us it’s really shaping up to be a tight race can our coverage really reach 24 hours? Whoa I need to interject there Greg because that question mark while grammatically required in that instance was some punctuation and I think that might represent a real turning point in this race as some might see that as an early sign of this being an unsustainable exercise and frankly I think our audience are already getting tired of this bit well now just wait a bit Bill we will come to you soon but I’m hearing that Julia has another update for us, Julia?

These bloodthirsty democratic party shitheads let Netanyahu lead them into a genocide and destroy their chances of winning key states. Amazing. Fuck these evil incompetent freaks.

Nevada’s secretary of state, seeing high number of rejected ballots in Clark and Washoe, says one of the biggest issues is that the signatures of younger voters don’t always match what’s on their driver’s licenses:

“It’s mostly the fact that young people don’t have signatures these days. And when they did register to vote through the automatic voter registration process, they signed a digital pad at D.M.V., and that became their license signature.”

This election is such a joke lol

I'm glad to see PSL, the Green Party, and Cornel West are all collaborating. I don't think I've seen major third-party campaigns explicitly support each other like this in the past. Obviously it won't change the outcome of the election at all, but for people like me, where I had to vote for Stein since Claudia and Karina (as well as Cornel West) got removed from the ballot in Georgia, it's helpful to see there's at least a similarly-aligned option

I say I don’t care about this election, but living in the heart of the great satan and hearing everyone talk about it, it’s hard not to be at least a little interested in the results.

How I feel about it seems to be completely dependent upon the last person I talked to. After Kamala announced her candidacy I was going hard on my anti-kkkopmala shit since the libs were being so completely insufferable. Now that things have calmed down a bit and I’ve gone back to my normal state of having to deal with chuds constantly, I’m more inclined to hate Trump more since I would just relish the chance to see these people eat shit a second time. Bonus would be seeing Elon’s meltdown in real time. Lucky for me it’s pretty much 50-50 and could go either way!

Even if Kamala wins, Trump derangement syndrome will continue. Biden has been president for four years now and libs still won’t shut up about Trump.

I'm expecting a Harris win tbh

That Selzer lady does have a good track record and it seems like a convincing narrative that pollsters mega overcorrected towards Donnie for fear of underestimating his performance a third time.

Plus I think it fits with the American political tradition of "unprecedented yet boring". Dems pulling off an unheard of mid-race switch, winning, and then governing in a dreadfully milquetoast fashion just to lose to the 2028 competent fascist MAGA inheritor feels apropos.

Consider the fact that from 1980-2016 (the era of neoliberalism), every president other than Bush Sr was a two-term president (and Bush Sr really was just Reagan’s third term). Then from 2016 on not only do we have single-term presidents, but we are switching parties each time.

Conditions are degrading and the nation that believes the only solution to problems is to vote is trying to mash the buttons to make things better

538-type redditors gooning over this Ann Selzer poll showing Harris at +4 in Iowa because her predictions have been within like 1 points of the actual result for the past few cycles.

Obviously that kind of performance would be insane so I don't see it happening. But I wonder if it's a sign that her odds are better than those currently represented in the polls and prediction models

[-] SpiderFarmer@hexbear.net 42 points 1 month ago

My trans partner is voting for the first time since like 2016 or something, naturally scared of Project 2025. Naturally I have some sympathy for people in a more vulnerable spot, but I'm obviously getting a wall when I mention how Kamala is already giving trans people the cold shoulder.

I really want the Dems to suffer for pushing genocide. But I know in the end they will just blame leftists and third party voters and not learn their lesson.

all those articles from months ago that were like "it's really strange how Americans seem to think the economy is bad when it's actually really great and awesome. what could possibly be the explanation? republican media? brainwashing? have they just not been told that the economy is good? are they spoiled from all the money we gave them during the pandemic?" are extremely funny in hindsight.

political analysts spent years of their lives in the best universities; now baffled at the fact that the area under the curve of an inflation graph is more important than whether the curve is going up or down, and whether wages outpace that inflation. calculus makes fools of us all, I suppose. so as much as I wish that Harris would have lost solely on the basis of pro-Palestinian voters (this would be the best possible timeline out of all the horrible ones where Trump wins), it might in fact just be the economy, stupid

Thew only good thing that happens during elections is once in a while you see a former BlueMAGA no matter who account standing on top of a T-34 waving the red banner and it's like "Wow, they can learn."

If Kamala loses, I actually don’t think them blaming the left is gonna work. She went so unabashedly hard right in the campaign, and she was doing so well when she let Walz do his thing. Then she inexplicably made Liz Cheney her de facto VP and started talking like an open fascist.

I don’t know if we can pin it all on Gaza, but I do think the only conclusion anyone will be able to come to is campaigning to the right of Biden was terrible.

Democrats when democrats win: See, being more racist and more right-wing pays off!

Democrats when republicans win: See, we lost because we were too woke and was not sufficiently racist or right-wing!

This dynamic seems to be universal across the world's "liberal democracies" today.

The funniest part is that Trump is gonna end up getting roughly the same number of votes he got last time. Dems just had 10-15 million people not show up. Wonder why...

[-] vegeta1@hexbear.net 42 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Liberals coming to terms with bidens legacy going to shit. All the good they think he did will be torn by trump. Their parasocial relationship with this fart had them call him the most progressive president but all he'll be remembered for was being at the helm of a genocide and his brain turning to mush while epstein buddy felon took over.

Realizing that Trump's worst policies will be things that the Supreme Court would have done anyways under a Democratic president who wouldn't have lifted a finger to reign them in or diminish their power to govern.

Also it can't be overstated that the worst case scenario for Gaza is that Trump continues Biden's policy on Israel.

[-] marxisthayaca@hexbear.net 41 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

I do think Kamala is gonna win, because the abortion ban has been an (undeserved) boon to the demoncrats. Men can’t even wipe their ass, and Trump expects them to hand him the election.
