Don’t give your money to the Russian cybercriminals

they’re not selling ebooks, they’re giving them away, that’s the whole point

fbi acting like z library promised to take them on vacation but took their new girlfriend and stepson instead

[–] the_post_of_tom_joad@hexbear.net 102 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Am i supposed to be angered at these pics of z's "luxurious" lifestyle?

These are middle class aspirations at best. show me just one of the houses of these copyright holders.

Hate! Haaaaaate! peppino-angry

[–] sweatersocialist@hexbear.net 49 points 1 month ago

are you joking? look at that late 1990s camper. that thing must’ve costed literally dozens upon dozens of dollars to rent. yet they wanna act like they aren’t making money. im not buying that bs

[–] foxontherocks@hexbear.net 98 points 1 month ago

I think the folks who gave me some books can have a camping trip in a marsh.

[–] AernaLingus@hexbear.net 96 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Wow, I'm so upset that these people providing an invaluable service to the world have a modicum of comfort in their lives!

[–] the_post_of_tom_joad@hexbear.net 81 points 1 month ago

Berries in their gruel? The underclass is too comfortable porky-point

There are like two MEGACORPS that run educational textbook industry. I know many students who used Z-Library to get their textbooks. It's crazy that IP law is ALWAYS about money, nothing else. IP law does nothing but get in the way of education and knowledge creation. Z-Lib was the plug.

[–] aaaaaaadjsf@hexbear.net 78 points 1 month ago (1 children)

The dude went on a camping trip with a range rover and caravan, along with a rented boat, and that's somehow worth making a fuss according to the FBI?

[–] VILenin@hexbear.net 74 points 1 month ago

You say that capitalism is bad, and yet you enjoy things. Curious.

[–] iByteABit@hexbear.net 76 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Now show us what a vacation of an average US millionaire looks like and why we should give a fuck that they're getting paid a few books less, money which the writer themselves will probably get a sad percentage of anyway

[–] TechnoUnionTypeBeat@hexbear.net 32 points 1 month ago (7 children)

Fuck the vacation, just show a picture of the average day to day living of the billionaires who own publishing companies and it's already far beyond the conception of the average person

I'll pay them so they can afford something better than a caravan holiday, nobody deserves that.

[–] aaaaaaadjsf@hexbear.net 31 points 1 month ago

Pretty much every second Afrikaans family goes on a caravan or camping holiday during the school holidays here in South Africa lol. It's basically a tradition at this point.

This is actually pathetic. Is this real? Is this supposed to look like opulence? Show us some "copyright holder" camping trips please

Russian admins: feds want me, fish fear me grillman

[–] EllenKelly@hexbear.net 56 points 1 month ago

Fuck I never thought i'd experience second hand embarrassment from the FBI, this reeks of desperation, cringe

Z-library living it up like they're 1950s auto workers taking a week off to go fishing around Baldwin, MI.

Edit: It reminds of the handwringing about Bernie Sanders having a vacation cabin. Having a cabin used to be extremely common in the unionized Midwest, and in the USSR having a dacha to hang out at was also very normal. It's something a society with advanced industry can easily achieve. Capitalists are trying to erase the living memory of countless 100s of millions of people and act like having access to a cabin is an unprecedented luxury.

That picture on the bottom left looks quite nice. I hope they enjoyed the trip to the lake

[–] Alaskaball@hexbear.net 38 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Hope there weren't any mosquitos.

[–] PolandIsAStateOfMind@lemmygrad.ml 35 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (8 children)

Spoiler: there were. Though in Russia and generally northern Eurasia mosquitos aren't that much of a problem. Ticks are worse.

As long as original content is held part and parcel by vile capitalist entities intent on wringing every possible dime out of the underclass, then no. Piracy is a service problem; Z-Library hosts a better service than anyone whose content ended up there.

All swine is good for is pit roasting in this house; and all their words are fuckin wind.

[–] iridaniotter@hexbear.net 50 points 1 month ago

That's nice they do a lot of good work I hope they enjoy their vacation blob-no-thoughts

[–] chungusamonugs@hexbear.net 48 points 1 month ago

Imagine them seizing the RNC website and posting pictures of maralago with the same caption.

Russian cybercriminals

Them being Russian makes it extra bad!

[–] Chronicon@hexbear.net 41 points 1 month ago

less opulent than the average american car dealership owner, and z-library actually provides a useful service

[–] REgon@hexbear.net 41 points 1 month ago (2 children)

So they've spent the vast hordes of money on... what looks like a cheap, semi-decrepit bungalow in a flooded area and a relatively new car, a camper, a small boat and what looks like the kinda view you'd get on most vacations to the mediterranean so I'm gonna assume they're on vacation? Wow they're really living high on the hog

Don't get me wrong, it looks nice, but for the vibe the FBI is throwing out you'd think they were living like Epstein.

Hell yeah. Someone saving me hundreds of dollars better get a vacation or two at least

[–] FourteenEyes@hexbear.net 39 points 1 month ago

So continues the trend of the American alphabet agencies continuing to become more and more pathetic

[–] imnotfromkaliningrad@lemmy.ml 35 points 1 month ago

deeply unserious agency

[–] FuckyWucky@hexbear.net 35 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Anna's Archive lists z-lib.gs as a mirror and it's working too, and the mobile app never stopped working. Looks like they couldn't take it down at all lol.

Hope Internet Archive also starts hosting in Russia if the whole fiasco they're going through right now makes them have to shut it down.
