Soros' Law: Every mmorpg has to have cash shop angel wings for level 100 players.

[-] LaGG_3@hexbear.net 6 points 1 week ago

In .hack, the angel wing character got that as one of two people who won a special challenge.

In real MMOs, it's just the whales with a lot of cash lol

There was a time before cash shops when this was true in a lot of games. Even WoW had some really rare and hard to get items that couldn't be bought in any real way. I guess you could pay people to play your account, but no real money existed in the game.

That's the vibe I was getting, too.

TFW when you're a fierce dragon and you've been defeated by near naked adventurer using a fish sword.

king's barracuda + mom's ol' pan offhand build?? i guess if you're still clearing things it's fine.

Two Dark Souls characters and a Let It Die character

[-] take_five_seconds@hexbear.net 8 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

yo what the fuck is Let It Die this game looks like a fever dream

edit: it's a free to play MMO???

[-] HiImThomasPynchon@hexbear.net 7 points 1 week ago

Free* to Play soulslike with roguelike elements. Designed by Suda51.

*you have to pay for continues but they only cost ¢25 and they give you like 30 off the bat

[-] Owl@hexbear.net 16 points 1 week ago

25 cents for a continue??

This game mechanic is older than most of the people on this website.

Arcade machines, the original predatory microtransaction

Suda51 game, what did you expect

[-] Owl@hexbear.net 5 points 1 week ago

Nothing because I've never heard of them.

[-] Frank@hexbear.net 11 points 1 week ago

They're a notoriously weird, creative developer.

[-] HiImThomasPynchon@hexbear.net 8 points 1 week ago

Oh. Well. I recommend Killer 7.

[-] take_five_seconds@hexbear.net 6 points 1 week ago

*you have to pay for continues

bruh

[-] HiImThomasPynchon@hexbear.net 6 points 1 week ago

In fairness, you won't need continues unless you're really bad at the game. Also game's still playable without continues, you'll just have to burn through Lv 1 characters to get your high level characters back

[-] jack@hexbear.net 6 points 1 week ago

I'm shocked that game's still alive

[-] Esoteir@hexbear.net 6 points 1 week ago

do you at least get like a free continue a day or something lmao

[-] HiImThomasPynchon@hexbear.net 6 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Couple times a year they'll have an event where you get 1 free continue a day and it'll last for a month or so.

Also: Unless you're really bad at the game, you won't really need continues

Edit: Just remembered they give continues for certain quests too

[-] Frank@hexbear.net 9 points 1 week ago

I actually tried this with Malenia last night. I did a little better running around naked but she still whupped my ass.
