I mean lawn guy lin ice tea is already just combining 5 different liquors that do not go together so people who don't understand fractions think they're getting a stronger drink.

I agree with everything here except for "do not go together", when mixed right a long island tastes like a regular arnold palmer but still hits like a truck. For people who like tea+lemonade and getting trashed but don't enjoy the taste of liquor it is the ideal beverage.

[–] Le_Wokisme@hexbear.net 2 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

you could accomplish that with just vodka and the sweet drinks

You can't fit as much vodka in the same drink without it tasting like vodka, the long island iced tea is remarkably deceptive

vodka shouldn't taste like anything unless you flavor it

[–] Amnesigenic@lemmy.ml 0 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

In higher concentrations it tastes like pure alcohol, which is to say burning

I'm not saying I don't get the appeal, but not everybody enjoys things that are burning flavored and they deserve to get too drunk too quickly if they want to just like everyone else

I believe you. But have you considered simply not tasting the alcohol so you can experience the world of liquor flavors? We have licking an oak plank, thin wine, water with a hint of potato, ??? overpowered by sugar, ???, gin, tequila, and if you come to China, you can try: rice, drinking perfume, soup you added random seasoning to but no salt or even soup, and then perfume, and finally literally soy sauce.

Ok but I actually do like tequila and gin and plank, and I suspect I would enjoy a fine sipping perfume as well

Well its the most popular distilled alcohol in the world, so clearly its likable to somebody.

Baijiu, the one that comes in herbal, floral, rice, and sauce

The one time I tried baijiu it tasted like paint thinner

You're selling me on it

I can’t explain exactly what purpose vodka serves in there (because it’s tasteless aside from the alcohol), but they do go together
