So now only criminals will be able to steal peoples cars. Well done.
They wont even be banned (which would be stupid) Its on the owner to proof they have it for legitimate reasons. The end result will mean the devices will be more hidden in everyday seeming devices. And if they do eventually ban them fully that legal local technological knowledge will be dragging behind criminal innovation.
You want these devices out there to increase awareness of their existence and to pressure manufacturer to make their devices more safe.
Example: Remember how Tesla can remote (un)lock cars? Exploit waiting to happen and the potential ban on encryption is going to make it so much worse.
Ostrich politics.
Thank you for approving my content!
Was this also the original context of this comic?
Yeah i don’t really understand this. Someone is comparing it to early holocaust but the jews where legal citizens, i assume they already had traceable paperwork.
Why would an undocumented immigrant who they do not know exists hand themselves over like that if the rhetoric on it has been super clear. They want all of them gone.
I could reason that this is just a setup to then expand the definition of illegal citizen but i still don't see this working.
Maybe we are “lucky” in that by following the original hitler handbook they ignore that at least some historic awareness of such events and the internet exists?
Actually if you look closely there are tons of differences. Look at the pipe going up to the ceilling.
This guys problem is not the monster its the fact that toggling that switch zaps him to a strikingly similar but entirely different universe.
In essence i agree but in context of the strategy of flooding the media i cant help but feel like for every something like this, which is funny and In some way hopeful but not a ongoing major issue we are missing something else.
I had to try this and you appear to be correct.
Its kinda bizare i get a captcha which i cant enter without javascript but in firefox i dont get any captcha at all.
However i don’t think your solution is adequate. I don’t particularly care about this story i care about having to face a paywall every 3 times i click a link on lemmy.
Kinda sucks there are not more sites like it but i did successfully test this compromise: https://web.archive.org/web/20250226151151/https://www.nytimes.com/2025/02/25/technology/iphone-dictation-trump-racist.html
Wait, is the information in this meme even real or did things get lost in translation?
Terrible, dehumanizing, awefull. The entire process of applying for jobs is one of the absolute worst things society ever made me do.
I did in the end find a good safe job with an open minded manager that respects me and my colleague for our individual expertise and accomplishments.
I am not paid well, there are plenty of grossly better paying jobs within my industry. I don’t care. I know that was the compromise for job security and to me highly valued stability.
I am never doing that ordeal again. I am never applying elsewhere. They would need to drag me from the desk i have now. And they better find me another in house function to do because i am showing up to do my work the next day, wether they keep paying me or not.
(I work in the logistical background of a non profit IT helpdesk, with plenty of freedom, input in our procedures, room to script/program tools that benefit coworkers)
