I just realized there was another thread about this and @Mardoniush@hexbear.net said what I just wrote but more elegantly:

Also loving the standard refrain of the liberal "I have predefined the left's goal as impossible, because I do not want it"

This kind of thing reminds me of how Judith Butler made personal donations to Kamala Harris' campaign in the 2020 presidential primary.

I think the reason she succumbs to that type of doomerism is spelled out pretty clearly. She even correctly identifies the contradiction at the foundation of all of this: if you want Palestinian suffering to actually end, it means you need Israel to stop existing. The end point of all pro-Palestinian struggle is to abolish Zionism. So, if she does anything more than quietly give some money to a fundraiser, if she accepts the material effects of supporting Palestine, it's equivalent to saying she's part of a movement that wants to get rid of Israel. That wouldn't be nice, it's not an elegant liberal democratic position. So she can't endorse it. In fact, further than not endorsing it, she can't allow herself to believe that it's even possible (or that it would result in anything but disaster). To liberal Zionists like her, a free Palestine can't exist and it must not be allowed to exist.

Zero Palestinian lives were saved

Actually you'll find that when Palestine Actionists sabotaged workshops that are part of the supply chain that makes weapons used by the IOF to commit genocide, that does save lives. Because not all political actions are making youtube videos and voting for the lesser evil. Sometimes you can do something real.

I hope that someday American policy will shift in their favor

Yeah, good, okay. Your thoughts and prayers are not appreciated. I'm just a realist and hope that America just ceases to exist as an imperialist entity (and think that it's good and moral for people to organize towards that end). Death to America, death to Israel.

The post gets more befuddling if you read it.

What hexagonal symmetries mean is slightly different from a shape being made out of hexagons. If you were to take a hexagon and rotate it a certain amount or flip it you will end up back where you started. You can make a set of actions that keep the shape the same, that would look something like {60° rotation, 120° rotation, 180° rotation...}. That set is its symmetry group. If an object has hexagonal symmetries, it has the same set, so even if it looks nothing like a hexagon you would be able to do all the same things you'd do to a hexagon and keep it the same.

::: spoiler spoiler

Am from PR so I was already familiar with the story. I think it's definitely worth noting that the PFLP had nothing to do with this attack, except for one member who more or less went rogue.

I was just saying how they made this bot have 8chan ideology but boomer parlance and that makes it so much worse. Nobody wants this.

Kinda strange how whatever fact checking it has built in led it to the conclusion that white genocide is fake, but so is the Holocaust. Is it just hardcoded to deny genocide?

From day 1, Zionism has had support from opportunist "socialists" and "communists" that completely lack the capacity for introspection and considering whether there might be a little bit more to politics than flying red flags and raising wages.

Is it really mental gymnastics if they were already plagiarizing Goebbels for Hasbara and using Lebensraum talking points to justify Greater Israel? It's not like there's much of a mask left to take off.

Made this when I was learning Rust a couple years ago. Take the complex plane, then apply 1/z, and evaluate whether the point lies in the Mandelbrot set (well, evaluate how long it takes to diverge) and map that to a color gradient.

My mental model is: The US dollar is the world reserve currency mainly because every country needs oil and they need dollars to buy it. The fact that the US dollar is so desired means the US can basically go into infinite debt and it's nbd because they can simply force everyone to keep giving up their resources and labor in exchange for oil via US dollars.

Is this model correct? If I'm wrong, what should I read to expand on this?

I was curious about a supposed leak that happened on 4chan's vg board today, so against my better judgement I went to check out if the leak could've been legitimate. I expected it to be rancid because it's 4chan, of course, but I was surprised to see that there's a relatively large Path of Exile community in that board.

That was perhaps more surprising than it ought to have been. POE is distinguished from its competitors for being the darker, grittier, more hardcore ARPG. If UlyssesT was still with us he'd probably have a lot to say about the grimdark garbage in the game (DAE have very very racist Aztec depiction!? so-true ). But the fact is that this was a whole board with tons of lingo, their own breeds of brainworms, transvestigating conspiracy theories about certain community streamers, the works.

So it got me thinking, did this worm-riddled and detestable sewage monster of a community originate from gamergate or what? Why are there so many reactionaries that are heavily invested in this game? I can't really remember much about what was happening in 2016 for POE, but IIRC the game grew a good amount around then. Did it take a ton of gamergaters or something?

It appears to me that the complete deindustrialization of the imperial core is a historical arc that, since 1973, has been more or less unstoppable. The question is, if a socialist world revolution were to happen in the near future, and they basically established JDPON, how would it be possible to reindustrialize the former imperialist nations without relying on exploiting the former periphery countries? The actual productive capacity has been decimated.

I can't do 4 more years of this. NOW you care about all the gory dead children and the daily massacres, burnt hospitals, poisoned water supplies? Not when you could've made as much noise as we have been trying to make to tell your candidate to stop supporting the atrocities?

Not sure I should've voted for this guy, but my ballot's already cast shrug-outta-hecks
