Was an epic exclusive before, and critically panned
Yeah, stuff will be Epic/Ubisoft/EA exclusive for a year or two then finally drop to Steam at a discount.
oh hey, it's that game that got all the chuddies (that somehow make up the majority of the saints row community) fired up
It was funny they complained that the game was woke and I was like:
SAINTS ROW AS A SERIES ALLOWS YOU TO BE A GIRL BOSS AND SLAP PEOPLE WITH DILDOS.
So I bought it and am enjoying it so far. I can tell how this humor would not hit for some people. Its has that side of Borderlands that people hate mixed with leftist sarcasm about how no one can afford a house. Like I laughed at the stupidest jokes in Borderlands so it does not take much to entertain me.
it came out a while ago and it fucking sucks. imagine saints row but it's made in unity with none of the charm or humor or fun
The 1st and 2nd games' biggest strengths were the the writing, and that it was GTA but goofier and less serious. All that seemed to go to shit in 3 and 4 as it was flanderized to the moon and back.
I didn't know it came to Steam, I was genuinely a fan of the third game. The blend of parody and satire of celebrity culture and action hero super criminals was a lot of fun. However I'm always kinda felt like it was a game of its time (not in a bad way) and a reboot of Saints Row never really made sense. I would understand a sequel of Agents of Mayhem that reworked its mechanics and built off that more than a Saints Row reboot. Saints Row plainly doesn't work in the modern age, at least not whatever this game is.
Honestly 3 was really good for what it was and when it came out, and both 4 and the weird spinoff where they're all in hell were fun and had some decent gags as well as pretty fun mechanics with the superpowers in 4 and the flying in gat outta hell. The worst thing about both of those is that they felt like half-baked DLCs for 3 more than anything, and gat outta hell in particular just hit a wall where they clearly ran out of time and/or funding.

Agreed!
Saint's Row 4 felt very much like an expansion pack of a game rather than a sequel. It brought absolutely nothing new to the series. I don't mean than in a salty way, it was fun, but it was nothing but more saints row 3. It was basically "saints row 3 - director's cut" or "Saints Row 3+" . Something bigger than a DLC, but something less than an another fully featured entry into the series. I remember my friend saying that "Saints Row 4 plays like a video game pitch", which I think is sadly an accurate way to describe it.
Gat outta Hell let like a bit a rough draft of a love letter and a fun goodbye from the developers. It just felt like they had a good time making it and gave them a chance to have one more romp through the Saints Row world, but not felt like a fully realized farewell. The voice cast seemed to have fun, and the game itself seem sincere (as much as a Saints Row game can) but it totally runs out of steam by the time you meet Jezebel.
Saints Row are meant to be dumb escapism and fun which I believe they succeed at on several levels. Can't beat the rich customization options, and crudely charming world. However, I was felt always like they could have been a bit more if they tried. Like a slacker student, making fart jokes and smoking weed but shows actual high aptitude at times.
a reboot of Saints Row never really made sense
I mean how would you bring a new plot ~~just as zany as the other Saints Row games~~ to the table after what they did in SR4 and it's spinoff?
Multiverse hijinks /s
It's one of those games that's just aggressively mid
Like a solid fine if you have to give it an actual description
So yeah, a solid $20 game
Isn't that what the original Saints Row was, a bargain bin GTA 🤔
it was but the new Saints Row is a bargain bin Ubisoft open world game, which is worse than being a bargain bin GTA.
games
Tabletop, DnD, board games, and minecraft. Also Animal Crossing.
