Christian here. I can confirm we're already pretty fucking visible.

It was probably just the wind... or a ghost. The holy spooky ghost.

[-] Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 months ago

Was it and of the 46 president's of the United States?

[-] spongeborgcubepants@lemmy.world 11 points 2 months ago

Oh hi, didn't see you there

[-] whodatdair@lemmy.blahaj.zone 10 points 2 months ago

Wait is that what all those buildings with the lower case t’s on them are about?

[-] K3zi4@lemmy.world 42 points 2 months ago

I mean, they already have Easter, and then basically the whole month of December. It's not anyone else's fault that it got turned into a consumerism and capitalist mega payday.

[-] TheDoozer@lemmy.world 8 points 2 months ago

Easter isn't even about Jesus. At least Christmas has the name, and some manger imagery, and other Christian-based stuff they can stamp on top of Saturnalia, but Easter is still named after the goddess of fertility with all the accompanying fertility and spring parts, from eggs to rabbits, to little sprouting plants and whatnot.

And I get that the Christians try to associate that spring renewal and rebirth with the resurrection, but I think that's a pretty big stretch to try to make it work.

Easter is not about Jesus. Every time somebody says "keep Christ in Christmas" I want to say "then get him out of Easter."

[-] ApatheticCactus@lemmy.world 10 points 2 months ago

"Easter is the day Jesus rose"

...then it should be a set date. It is not.

[-] Kage520@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

Dude I remember that day Jesus rose from the dead. Crazy day. It was.. was it Wednesday? I'm not sure. No wait it was definitely Sunday. The first Sunday after the first full moon after the spring equinox. Yeah that's when it was. Who could forget that?

[-] LifeInMultipleChoice@lemmy.world 7 points 2 months ago

Good Friday also gets a government holiday in 12 states as well, that should get an honorary mention. In public school ash Wednesday used to be a thing... But not sure if they finally did away with it

[-] exanime@lemmy.today 4 points 2 months ago

Hey don't be disingenuous... December is Coca-Cola marketing triumph month

[-] MegaUltraChicken@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

"Let's celebrate by giving polar bears diabetes!"

[-] Monument@lemmy.sdf.org 1 points 2 months ago

Easter, Christmas? Never heard of them.

Are you talking about the festivals for spring equinox and winter solstice? More commonly known as the celebration of Ishtar, and Saturnalia?

[-] Tolookah@discuss.tchncs.de 42 points 2 months ago

Sounds like something a snowflake would do.

[-] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 35 points 2 months ago

Christian visibility day?

Like all the big churches that are publicly visible with their marquees displaying whatever religious mumbojumbo?

Christmas? Easter? Good Friday? Whatever other Christian holidays? The want another day on top of all that?

[-] affiliate@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

don’t forget lent and advent. those end up making 1/6 of all days into christian days

[-] catsarebadpeople@sh.itjust.works 23 points 2 months ago

Won't someone think of the oppressed white, male, middle class, Christians?!

[-] tacosanonymous@lemm.ee 20 points 2 months ago

I hate that being reactionary works so well.

It feels like I’m taking crazy pills.

[-] Dagwood222@lemm.ee 22 points 2 months ago

Look up a sociologist named Alvin Toffler. Back around 1970, he and his wife wrote two books, "The Third Wave" and "Future Shock."

The idea of The Third Wave was that the world was going to rapidly shift from an Industrial model to a Digital one and that change would be as profound as the shift from hunter/gatherer to farming. The concept of Future Shock was that there would be a lot of people who couldn't or wouldn't be able to adapt to the new reality.

This is a really good example of what they were talking about.

[-] Vaginal_blood_fart@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 months ago

War anti war is also a solid read. Toffler was brilliant

[-] Dagwood222@lemm.ee 2 points 2 months ago

Toffler said that by 'anti-war' he meant that the next conflict would be so different from previous ones that we should come up with a new name for it.

Right after 9/11/2001 some folks floated the idea, but TRUE AMERICAN PATRIOTS were incensed with the idea that the conflict was anything but a WAR!!!

[-] Lianodel@ttrpg.network 2 points 2 months ago

Do you mean the reactionary behavior, or the inability to understand it? I feel like it could go either way, but one is more depressing than the other.

[-] Dagwood222@lemm.ee 2 points 2 months ago

Both. Going back to an idealized past is preferable to dealing with an unpleasant present.

[-] kromem@lemmy.world 17 points 2 months ago

You could have some festive themes for it too.

Like maybe a tree which you could decorate, and a color theme (I suggest red and green), and maybe cookies and give each other presents.

Sounds like a great idea Donald. If only something like that existed.

[-] spongeborgcubepants@lemmy.world 14 points 2 months ago

Can we get a Trump Invisibility Day instead?

Or a year for that matter....

[-] RGB3x3@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

We're going to need a Freedom From Fuckwad day when he finally dies.

[-] Burn_The_Right@lemmy.world 13 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

If Christians want to be more visible, they could attract a lot more attention by dancing around with poisonous snakes.

Hey Christians! Prove to us that you really are protected by your magical deity and increase your "visibility" at the same time!

[-] madcaesar@lemmy.world 12 points 2 months ago

The only thing Christians like more than little boys, is their persecution complex.

[-] lolola@lemmy.blahaj.zone 11 points 2 months ago

That's every fucking day

[-] SmurfNuts@kbin.social 9 points 2 months ago

This guy is just shitting words profusely out of his ass lips at this point. I mean he has been for decades but it's reached full dysentery levels.

[-] Kolanaki@yiffit.net 2 points 2 months ago

Verbal diarrhea.

[-] OhStopYellingAtMe@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

He’s never going away, is he?

[-] CitizenKong@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

His mind certainly is. The blobby rest will soon follow as well. He's overweight, eats fast food and drinks coke all day and thinks exercise is bad because it depletes the body's battery. It's a wonder he hasn't croaked already but time is certainly against him now. In comparison, Biden takes much better care of himself (but time is certainly not on his side as well).

[-] Cyberspark@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 months ago

Oh, he will. He will. Just give it time.

[-] mightyfoolish@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Perhaps in body but not in spirit. It's not like his party is running low on narcissistic bigots.

[-] randomaside@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 2 months ago

Christianity approaches, "Nice holiday you got there... What if it was about Jesus instead?"

[-] ctkatz@lemmy.ml 5 points 2 months ago

christian visibility day is any day that ends with "y".

there is no place in this country where a christian is not only not persecuted for their beliefs but is publicly lionized for them if they profess them.

majorities that need to be publicly recognized is a absolute ploy to silence and opress minorities, the more marginalized the worse it is.

[-] funkless_eck@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 months ago

Sun day, Moon day, Tiu's Day, Odin's Day, Thor's Day, Freija's Day, Saturn's Day.

We obviously need to add a Christ's Day, ellided to Cryday.
