Yes, we have one party here [in Tanzania]. But so does America. Except, with typical extravagance, they have two of them!

"American democracy is a sham, theres no difference between Democrats and Republicans. It’s as if we had two parties in Cuba and Fidel led one and I led the other."

Raul Castro

It would be the greatest burn of all time

[–] Redcuban1959@hexbear.net 14 points 2 years ago

democracy is when every acceptable ideology has an exactly equal number of supporters and none of them can accomplish anything meaningful, and tyranny is when most people agree on something and work together to achieve their goals. behold my genius, for i have solved politics.

[–] raven@hexbear.net 22 points 2 years ago

Doing things is political. Doing and changing nothing is not political and therefore good.

[–] Llituro@hexbear.net 50 points 2 years ago (1 children)

i agree with the commenter, it is so goddamn bleak to see a 17 yo haley stan.

[–] happybadger@hexbear.net 10 points 2 years ago (2 children)

At least he doesn't support Vivek (it rhymes with cake). Haley is the one that seems literate so this kid might snap out of it if they leave their hometown.

Down with Vivec, we stan Sixth House and the Tribe Unmourned

It's fucking great because every ad I see at the gym is like Nikki Haley hates China, she will destroy China and every other ad is Nikki Haley loves China, she will destroy America

I hate this fuckin country

[–] ElChapoDeChapo@hexbear.net 13 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I should run for office on a loving China and destroying amerikkka platform

[–] FlakesBongler@hexbear.net 11 points 2 years ago

You have my vote

[–] Frank@hexbear.net 36 points 2 years ago

Democracy is when you have exactly two parties that hate each other but vote for everything bad and vote against everything good.

[–] Skeleton_Erisma@hexbear.net 31 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

"I can't be racist I'm gay"

~Kaden, probably, after getting called out for their reactionary bullshit

[–] PoY@lemmygrad.ml 27 points 2 years ago

Democracy is when 2 parties enrich themselves via corporate handouts at public expense, and corporations control mass media to derail any attempts to hold them accountable

[–] happybadger@hexbear.net 19 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Lmao, Haley has fallen below Meatball Rob? How?

[–] emizeko@hexbear.net 8 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

on that chart she has never been polling above him...

[–] DamarcusArt@lemmygrad.ml 19 points 2 years ago

I've never understood this American obsession with "democracy" meaning "Two parties having a really close race every election." Even when I was a shitlib, it still made sense to me that our labor party actively worked for the people and our liberal party did not, so it made no sense to me that the race should ever be close.

Just spectacle and sports team politics. Rots their brains.

[–] axont@hexbear.net 16 points 2 years ago

democracy is when there's bourgeois parties and the more bourgeois parties the more democracier it is

[–] wombat@hexbear.net 16 points 2 years ago

the maoist uprising against the landlords was the largest and most comprehensive proletarian revolution in history, and led to almost totally-equal redistribution of land among the peasantry

Is Nikki Haley the fake leftist that was getting the astroturf treatment on /r/latestagecapitalism a few months back?

E: not who I was thinking and Tulsi wasn't it either. Gonna go some searches.

E2: maybe Marianne Williamson?

[–] dmonzel@lemmy.ml 30 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Highly unlikely. She's Trump's former ambassador to the UN, and former Republican governor of GA. You could possibly be referring to Tulsi Gabbard.

[–] WIIHAPPYFEW@hexbear.net 10 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Former governor of South Carolina (you’re forgiven for thinking we don’t exist though (I wish we didn’t exist either))

[–] dmonzel@lemmy.ml 8 points 2 years ago

Y'know, I even googled her to make sure before I typed it out, and for some reason my brain changed it within seconds.

[–] roux@hexbear.net 5 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Def not Tulsi but she turned into a ghoul too. I'll have to try and find the person I'm thinking of then.

[–] Wakmrow@hexbear.net 7 points 2 years ago (1 children)

She was always a reactionary though

[–] roux@hexbear.net 2 points 2 years ago

For sure. My dumb lib ass donated money to her when she ran because I bought into her shit...

[–] emizeko@hexbear.net 10 points 2 years ago (1 children)

lol DeSantis deflated like a soggy fart

[–] DamarcusArt@lemmygrad.ml 10 points 2 years ago

You can see every public appearance he had on here causing his numbers to drop bit by bit.

[–] DragonBallZinn@hexbear.net 6 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Liberals be like: "We can't write off Texas, it's so diverse and queer."

My brother in Christ, who do those diverse queer people vote for?

[–] Chapo_is_Red@hexbear.net 8 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Liberals write off Texas and Republican states all the time, many think the people in those states deserve to suffer for not supporting Joe Biden
