Mildly Interesting

This is for strictly mildly interesting material. If it's too interesting, it doesn't belong. If it's not interesting, it doesn't belong.

This is obviously an objective criteria, so the mods are always right. Or maybe mildly right? Ahh.. what do we know?

Just post some stuff and don't spam.

I've been tracking my drinks for 2 years, first time I reach such a sober streak - and I feel really better!

This is not mildly interesting. This is a pretty big deal.

Nice job! I also stopped drinking this year, best decision I could have made for myself, I do feel amazing and I finally feel free.

[–] velma@sh.itjust.works 12 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

Congrats! You should feel really proud of yourself!

I feel blessed not having a drinking problem. My father couldn't manage his. He died of liver failure.

Stay strong. It's always worth it. Even in moments of doubt and pain.

Very well done!

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 23 points 2 weeks ago

i don't think that's mildly interesting at all.

that's badass. way to go, dude.

[–] devaly@ani.social 20 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

you should drink Water though

[–] jtrek@startrek.website 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

When I was in elementary school, a teacher said like "I haven't had a drink in 5 years" and I said "Wouldn't you, like, die?"

I don't know if he thought I was fucking with him, or my parents told me not drinking booze was lethal, or what, but he didn't like laugh and clarify what he meant.

Been struggling myself to start getting sober what template are you using?

[–] UltraGiGaGigantic@lemmy.ml 9 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

When I quit smoking tobacco, I waited as long as i could to have my first smoke of the day. Some days I made it very far, some days I lit up right when I woke up. Eventually I made it through a whole day.

It accelerated pretty fast after that cause once I got a few days under my belt, I felt positive reinforcement. Relapsing didnt crush my spirit, I could be so happy with how much time I "earned" last go around. Not bad that I failed to "quit". This really flipped the script for me. I felt stronger as I kept trying rather then pulled apart and broken down.

If being hard on yourself worked, we would be perfect by now.

Congrats man.

Some personal updatesI don't plan on completely quitting alcohol, but have managed to tone it down quite a lot. I now only drink on the weekends, only in the evenings, and up to 2 drinks.

Also, it's been about 7 months of no smoking for me. (I do use some nicotine pouches every once in a while though.)

[–] BambiDiego@lemmy.world 8 points 2 weeks ago

Fantastic job, it is very difficult.

Remember this moment, know that you did it, and if needed you'll do it again.

[–] teolan@lemmy.world 8 points 2 weeks ago

Congrats!!!

Given how much everything around us tries to push us to drink, you can be proud!

[–] lordziv@lemmy.nz 8 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

This is me too but with weed. Last time I smoked was 18 January!

Extremely impressive tracking method.

If not already shared, bringing awareness to

[–] RodgeGrabTheCat@lemmy.ca 7 points 2 weeks ago

You should post this in upliftingnews because this is far more than mildly interesting.

[–] horse@feddit.org 6 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Nice! I'll be at seven years next month. Before that my calendar would have been all orange and red with the occasional black or yellow day sprinkled in and not a single green day to be found.

Quittung was probably the best decision I've ever made. Mainly because it was the first step to many more life improvements since. It's never too late to change your life!

Now that seems unfair. So you get docked if the power grid goes down? Jeez...

[–] untorquer@quokk.au 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Does the docking help with the power grid or is it just an excuse to have fun with the homies?
