Fr I hope the Switch 2 gets cracked soon.
Honestly. Hell, most Switch games run better in Eden than on the actual console anyway LMAO. Here's hoping for a big breakthrough for the Switch 2 soon. Console exclusivity in 2026 is wild enough as-is, and Nintendo's philosophy is such a relic of the past.

I tried my friend’s copy of BotW when it was fairly new… i got outside of the first cave and shut it off, it was dipping down to like 20FPS on the Switch. I ran it shortly thereafter on the computer, and it ran at 120FPS flat using a WiiU version. TotK when it released ran at 45+, now 60 flat FPS at 1440p. Every switch game I’ve ever played runs way better on the computer than on the actual switch. It’s wild.

Nintendo is really the worst offender when it comes to things like this.
Thankfully, there’s only one Nintendo game I’m interested in as an adult (Brawl) and that can be played via a GameCube emulator. They’ve been releasing the same shit for 15 years now, I literally cannot see how anyone can tolerate 50,000 iterations of the same Mario or Zelda game. Probably why they’re so anal about emulators, why pay 80 dollars for the latest Zelda slop when you could just play the same game released 40 years ago.

I mean, Breath of the Wild is absolutely nothing like the Zelda formula perfected in A Link to the Past and Ocarina of Time.

On a serious note, what’s so different. Do we get to learn any interesting lore in a franchise where the only loreis aesthetic? Their entire portfolio consists of franchises that AI can make games out of.

I'm not really sure what point you're trying to make. If you dislike Zelda, just call it trash and move on with your life.
But calling it all the same just seems reductive to me. Like, mechanically alone, A Link to the Past and Breath of the Wild feel VERY different, imho. The fact that one is 2D and the other is modern 3D alone makes them very different games, which should be obvious to most folk.
Im not sure what you're trying to ask with the lore thing. Does FIFA have lore? Need for Speed? Yeah, I guess Elden Ring has lore, but not every game needs deep lore to function.

I’m being a bit of troll, I’m not going to lie. Personally, yes, Zelda doesn’t captivate me these days. Things I value tend to overwhelming revolve around story elements, mythos, and atmosphere and I feel that this is a franchisee that doesn’t really place much emphasis on them. It’s just not for me anymore.
But I’ll br fair to myself, I wasn’t comparing Link to the past to the 3d zeldas.
Alright. Then I don't think we have any serious disagreements. I think modern Zelda is pretty boring and safe. Breath of the Wild was interesting from a mechanical standpoint as an open-world toybox, but it never interested me beyond that. Like, I think a weird fantasy world like Elden Ring or even Silksong is much more interesting than what Nintendo is doing with Zelda if we're comparing worldbuilding and lore.
Respect the fuck out of you for being brave enough to say you're a Brawl player. Personally, I'm a sheeple and prefer Melee or Ultimate, but I have great memories of playing brawl with my step brother. Feel like the Internet really over hates Brawl

It's a default judgement (honestly kinda messed up, I think you should get a trial if caught). So it's really more of a question whether they can catch them.
The subreddit also seems to be mostly of the opinion that the mod sucks for selling roms.

I have very little context on this, the article is pay walled However, I would actually lean towards not liking the mod selling ROMs. ROMs are made to be given out for free. Hardware mode are reasonable, doing some sort of crowdfunding to pay for work on ROMs is reasonable. However, I will never support crackers (the piracy kind, not Europeans. Although I will never support those crackers either) charging for the ROM like they made the game.
Also assuming the mod didn't do any cracking himself and was just selling air essentially
Yeah, charging for hardware mods and tools is pefectly fine by me in most cases. Charging for roms and cracked games is sketchy as fuck. Not "4.5 million dollar lawsuit" sketchy, but definitely worthy of being pushed out of a community at least.
I think they were doing both.

Nintendo won its $4.5 million lawsuit against James Williams, a Reddit moderator accused of distributing pirated Switch games, as reported earlier by Aftermath. In a default judgment issued on Wednesday, a Washington federal judge also ordered Williams to shut down the online stores allegedly housing libraries of pirated Switch games.
Nintendo sued Williams, also known as “archbox” online, in 2024. In its complaint, the gaming giant claimed Williams became a “leading moderator” of the r/SwitchPirates community, where he allegedly solicited “donations” of Nintendo eShop gift cards and copies of Switch games “to be copied and distributed” on online pirate stores. Last October, Nintendo asked the court for a $4.5 million default judgment after Williams didn’t respond to the lawsuit.
“NOA [Nintendo of America] has demonstrated that Williams promoted online shops offering pirated Nintendo game files and circumvention software, encouraged others to contribute pirated Nintendo games to his pirate shops, and assisted others in distributing pirated Nintendo Switch games, even though he knew such activity violated copyright laws,” US District Judge Lauren King writes in the order.
This marks yet another legal victory for Nintendo, which has filed a flurry of copyright lawsuits over the past several years. The company most recently won a court case in the Netherlands, which deemed it illegal to sell Mig flash cartridges that allow people to play pirated copies of games.
The $4.5 million award reflects $150,000 per violation across 30 copyrighted games, including Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Luigi’s Mansion 3, and Pikmin 4. Williams must also “immediately disable access” to his alleged pirate shops, as well as shut down any social media accounts used to distribute copyrighted Switch games.
