I have very little context on this, the article is pay walled However, I would actually lean towards not liking the mod selling ROMs. ROMs are made to be given out for free. Hardware mode are reasonable, doing some sort of crowdfunding to pay for work on ROMs is reasonable. However, I will never support crackers (the piracy kind, not Europeans. Although I will never support those crackers either) charging for the ROM like they made the game.
Also assuming the mod didn't do any cracking himself and was just selling air essentially
Yeah, charging for hardware mods and tools is pefectly fine by me in most cases. Charging for roms and cracked games is sketchy as fuck. Not "4.5 million dollar lawsuit" sketchy, but definitely worthy of being pushed out of a community at least.
I think they were doing both.
