French aristocrats used to make model towns that romanticized rural life and to some extent I have seen wealthy people do this through "homesteading" but I am curious if the bourgeoisie has like, idk, fake mcdonalds? Obviously not all of them but I feel like there have to be some that are into this or something like it.

I can't find it, but there was a bank that had a "mock poor people" themed costume party around Occupy Wall Street time doggirl-growl

I personally know someone who is the heir to a petroleum industry fortune yet works a menial retail job, allows this job to stress him out to no end, constantly expresses fear and worry about not being able to pay bills, and then everything he needs is airdropped into his life by his fabulously wealthy family who pay for everything. Like literally just doing a working class job for no reason. It's bizarre.

Conceptually I understand the desire to follow some project or purpose. I guess I just would do something more interesting than a normal 9to5 if I had the means to do so.

I think if I did this I would have the decency not to tell people around me who could actually suffer if they don't make enough money how stressed I am by my imaginary play money job.

I know someone who had me lend them money once since they were 'broke', and it turns out their family are rich, pay all their bills, bought them a house, and just clear their debts periodically. Couldn't believe it.

Tiffany has a £945 empty tin can (looks exactly like a can of beans without the label) made of silver, does that count?

Iirc Mike Rowe is pretty pro-worker in a meaningful-ish way but yes, like Mike Rowe.

[–] RedDawn@hexbear.net 15 points 2 weeks ago

No, he’s pro-work, but he is a free market libertarian type person who supports capitalism which makes him anti-worker whatever else he might say.

[–] Johnny_Arson@hexbear.net 5 points 2 weeks ago

Mike Rowe is a libertarian piece of shit that deserves to be fed to pigs.

Isn't that like when Balenciaga sells nasty torn-up t-shirts that costs the same as a small car?
