7. No duplicate posts.
If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.
8. Misinformation is prohibited.
Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.
9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.
All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.
10. Don't copy entire article in your post body
For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

I believe this was published right after Trump was elected, maybe just before, I'm not sure.

This just plays into C-suite hands because now, they don't have the payroll and benefit expenses. The better play is to be incompetent, while collecting a check.
We need to spread this to the other mass surveillance companies, starting with Palantir.

The most easily recognizable by people would be Google and Meta. Those two top the charts for non-consensual surveillance. I think those to need to be reigned in big time, along with some of the other big tech companies. All are anti-consumer. I guess at least those try to have some level of transparency, but they still have awful business practices.
You'd still be amazed and depressed by how much people are underestimating the level of surveillance from Google, Meta and the others.

as they should be, but cities are swithcing over to AXON, MOTOROLA and others but with more obscure cameras.
I'm possibly losing my job and currently job-hunting. I've seen open positions for Palantir and Flock and would sooner be dead than working for them.
You should still apply, though. Because people hate them, they likely need to offer higher salaries to compensate, just like Meta does. You can use these high offers to negotiate a better salary at a more palatable company. Also, it wastes the time of a scumbag company, so win-win.

just apply but have an AI write everything as if you are a suberp candidate, just to increase their workload. In the least they will have to google you to see you don't exist.

Remember that Flock isn't the only company with this exact business model. Cities ditching Flock is moving to their competitors instead.
We need to make it clear that we are opposed to the concept, not a specific company.
They understand that, but will remain purposely obtuse to it. We need to continue to remind them, it's like potty training a puppy.

The funny thing with Flock is, people have their pants in a knot over the egregious surveillance they conduct - and rightfully so. Yet they've been letting themselves be put under constant surveillance for over two decades now, and there are plenty of other Flocks out there doing just as egregious shit today that nobody has heard about.
Flock is a lightning rod. But I fear when they they finally go belly up, their competitors will learn the lesson and keep even more quiet - and people will forget, as they always do.
