Fuck AI

"We did it, Patrick! We made a technological breakthrough!"

A place for all those who loathe AI to discuss things, post articles, and ridicule the AI hype. Proud supporter of working people. And proud booer of SXSW 2024.

AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.

You're either going to work with it or be out of the game forever

Good. I hate the fucking game and its players.

[–] Shamber@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago

Isn't she AI generated herself? I didn't think it was possible to be that awful both as an actor and as a human, and yet here we are

[–] teslekova@lemmy.ml 14 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Oh no she Gina Carranoed herself!

What a shame. How sad for such a proud IDF ambassador.

laughs forever

She's a Zionist?

Now that I've invented the bank robbing robot, the bank robbing robot is inevitable...

[–] victorz@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago

Welp, saving that picture for later. 🎯

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 13 points 1 day ago (2 children)

She's welcome to her train because I'm reasonably confident that within 18 months it's going to have exploded.

She's certainly picked a hill to die on and I'm quite happy to indulge her.

[–] cantstopthesignal@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

She's one of those celebs that was basically foisted upon us by Hollywood producers and who regular people don't really like. She has the acting ability of a block of wood so she is doing anything she can to get attention and work.

[–] mojofrododojo@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

I hope every set artist and lighting tech refuses to work with her in the future.

[–] likebudda@reddthat.com 33 points 2 days ago (1 children)

She found a vehicle where her acting won't be the most artificial thing in the room.

So will she still be singing the same tune when AI steals her likeness and voice and begins producing feature length films without her consent or approval, and pays $0 in royalties, and gives no acknowledgement in the credits?

It's like bragging that you were first aboard a train with blown-out tracks and taunting the people who refused to get on.

Yeah I'm fine with getting left behind. I won't watch AI garbage movies.

[–] Almacca@aussie.zone 109 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yeah, that's not career suicide at all. She'll be working with The Daily Wire next.

[–] KnitWit@lemmy.world 63 points 2 days ago (6 children)

I mean, can you name a movie she’s been in since Wonder Woman? Literally the last thing I can remember from her was the video of she put out during covid of celebrities looking for attention.

Crypto bros 🤝Slop sisters

"THIS IS THE FUTURE! GET ON BOARD OR GET LEFT BEHIND!"

[–] ChickenLadyLovesLife@lemmy.world 22 points 2 days ago (1 children)

My school district hired a new superintendent last year. When he gave his introductory presentation, he included a bit about how AI was here to stay and we were just going to have to live with it and use it. Something that is objectively making kids dumber and the school super is completely on board with it.

[–] jj4211@lemmy.world 11 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Heh, my kid said that the school required that teachers play a presentation from the school board. The topic was that using AI was cheating, and not to do it. Also, they used AI to make the presentation.

I'm glad she's doing it so it's one step closer for her acting career to be over.

[–] neo2478@sh.itjust.works 14 points 2 days ago

I mean, the AI "actors" will for sure have more screen presence and acting abilities than her.

[–] Sharkticon@lemmy.zip 94 points 2 days ago (4 children)

I'm trying to decide if the acting would be worse if it was the real Gal Gadot or an AI version...

[–] magnetosphere@fedia.io 40 points 2 days ago

That is a surprisingly difficult question, yet also fun to think about!

Fuck I miss the time when I could just watch a movie and think "ooh that actress is hot", without having to consider their position on Israel or crypto.

The train has left the station? Fine. That's definitely not the train I want to be on.

[–] Peppycito@sh.itjust.works 25 points 2 days ago (3 children)

That's the thing about trains if you miss one there won't be another one coming, ever.

"The train has left the station, so I must profit immensely from it."

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 25 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I know what you're thinking, but what if a zionist made a movie about crypto?

[–] ivanafterall@lemmy.world 12 points 2 days ago

You're so close to gold. I'd only add one tiny tweak: what if we let AI shit it out?

[–] CaptPretentious@lemmy.world 17 points 2 days ago

My take on all these people who defend AI with "it's here, get on board with it or get left behind" or "get used to it", etc. I've noticed a pattern. None of them actually use it as a tool. It's CEOs, it's "writers", "songwriters", "artists", etc. (please note the air quotes!).

The people who are defending the use, but shame anyone for calling out AI use or demanding disclosure (like Tim Sweeney), I see are looking to take as many shortcuts as possible, hoping to get rich, and don't want to admit it was any use of AI (because they want all the credit). They're trying to secretly outsource talent and profit from it.

English people in 19th century China: Opium is inevitable. You're going to work with it or be left out of the game entirely.

I cannot wait for this to become a huge critical and commercial failure. It has the potential to give AI the massive setback it deserves.

Gal Godot Gal-Ga-fucking-sucks.

What a typical, uninspired, cynical lump of redundant protoplasm masquerading as a "creative." I take what she says every bit as seriously as I do any of the innumerable AI-generated commercials touting AI-generated solutions-in-search-of-a-problem. It stinks of a desperation, the likes of which I haven't smelled since the brief age of NFT's. They need you to buy into their grift, or else their investment falls through -- and you wouldn't want that, would you?

(I absolutely would)

1 Join the cult or you'll be out of the game.
2 Get on the train to Guyana or you'll be out of the game.
3 Drink the kool aid or you'll be out of the game.

She is an Israeli agent, wouldn't expect anything less from her. Of course she would consider lives and contributions of others too be less valuable.

[–] Bluewing@lemmy.world 15 points 2 days ago

Yeah like most actors, she's never struck me as the brightest bulb in the box.

[–] LodeMike@lemmy.today 22 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Gal Gadot looks AI generated herself.

Incredible. I chuckled at that first paragraph for being extreme satire. Then read the rest.

It's just not possible to outdo reality anymore.

you got to work with it or be out of the game completely

do you though?

[–] Noel_Skum@sh.itjust.works 26 points 2 days ago

JFC. Can we hear the thoughts of an actor that can actually act?

[–] PiraHxCx@lemmy.dbzer0.com 32 points 2 days ago (22 children)

The change towards AI entertainment is inevitable, I for once can't wait for all that low quality crap that is release every year to be fully-AI so I can filter it out, and stuff with real artistic merit and passion becomes easier to find

It’s like if someone asked AI to make the least desirable movie.

[–] Nalivai@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago

Of all the people who wouldn't surprise me with a stance like that, she doesn't surprise me the most.
