I think you may have just solved both mysteries with one sentence.
Showerthoughts
A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.
Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:
- Both “200” and “160” are 2 minutes in microwave math
- When you’re a kid, you don’t realize you’re also watching your mom and dad grow up.
- More dreams have been destroyed by alarm clocks than anything else
Rules
- All posts must be showerthoughts
- The entire showerthought must be in the title
- No politics
- If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
- A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
- Posts must be original/unique
- Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS
If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.
Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.
Mmmmm turtle meat
Wait, that's illegal
The only thing that’s illegal to the child rapist is a sick bird.
Ahhh disgusting! Yet hilarious…and back to being revolted.
While I absolutely agree we deserve the truth about McConnel, didease-ridden mystery meat is far more likely to have an immediate impact on the lives of everyday Americans
I think conning voters is just as relevant and likely to cause problems as dodgy meat. I can avoid meat products. I can’t stop politicians doing shady stuff if we don’t all pay attention together.
I completely agree. I'm just saying the insidious follow on effects to conning voters (while more serious and dangerous) are less tangible to average Americans than knowing whether to avoid meat or not, from where, and what the consequences of getting it wrong are. I'm slightly more concerned over whether my lasagna for dinner tonight is going to put me in the hospital than the GOP continuing to lie to the American people. The real answer is the 24hr media cycle absolutely has time to cover both topics in depth, and they should be doing so. The role of the media is to help hold those in power accountable, and we're seeing a historic failure of that right now.
Unfortunately there is no way around eating the mystery meat.
Unless the disease-riddled mystery meat is Mitch "Big Mac" McConnell
I'm beginning to think there is no meat issue and all this is to spread FUD and what not, smoke and mirrors for something else. Plus it can drive prices up further. Who am I kidding it's probably all of the above.
The media is complicit. If they're questioning him at all it's to distract from something else.
100%.
They're the ones determining what topics people should feel outraged about each day and it's never the right ones. They also set the tone for how each topic should be covered and what lens the sheep are supposed to view it through.
Argentina? This is an article from last March, validating the Chinese beef rejection due to antibiotic contamination..
Now it's not a large shipment by any standard, but Argentina may be the source of Trump's mystery meat.
If the producers there have more rejected shipments to move, Trump is exactly the kind of amoral son of a whore who'd make a deal to buy it and fob it off onto his idiot followers. Just so "Mr. Popularity" can get his numbers up before the mid-terms.
Yeah, he'd risk the health of others for a cheap political boost..
Not a problem.
Not at all.
Argentine cows that probably speak german.
Upton Sinclair: "First time?"
It's a Jungle out there!
Poison in the very air we breathe.
You know what’s in the water that you drink?
Well I do, and it’s a-ma-zing!
It is working. I completely forgot about McConnell.
Yeah so you completely forgot about the Epstein files then.
I didn’t. The poor guy is in Limbo.
I thought the meat was all of those wild horses they have been rounding up and selling
Well, that wouldn't be so bad. But wasn't the meat imported?
I put nothing past them. Not one thing.
Or trying to get the Epstein files released
Maybe a few more people will realize they don't need to eat meat now.
This would be a perfectly valid point if the vegetables weren't also making people shit themselves to death. I miss having safe food.
Dry. Beans.

If it's any consolation, the last restaurant I went to had impossible meat cheaper than the real thing.
The US media is exclusively lying about the Canada tariffs by trying to both-sides the Shite House’s insane talking points.
US media is dead.
US media would rather have given an empty podium air time then give Bernie Sanders airtime. It's been dead for a long time.
I can't say I've ever thought of Trump's meat or Mitch McConnell in the shower.
Because we know the answer to the latter already.
... or where the bodies are buried at Zorro ranch
Please don't say 'Trump's mystery meat' ever again.
This. I came in here to say this.
Maybe they both have the same answer...
If anyone wants any inspiration for recipes to avoid the mystery meat !veganrecipes@sh.itjust.works and !veganhomecooks@lemmy.world
Though... even the vegans are getting fucked hard with the deregulation of food industries. (Local/homegrown veggies aren't an option for everyone)
Annoyingly those recalls are still mostly because of animal agriculture. Mostly diseases from manure and/or leaked manure from nearby animal farms
I know where the meat comes from. I know this guy called Mitch, and he doesn't need it anymore...
Its Epstein Beef
...or probably the Epstein files. Not US-ian, so cannot confirm, but given the state of things my assumption makes sense.
Little did they know that these were parallel investigations.
