When Graham appeared on Sean Hannity’s Fox News program afterward, she attempted to recover by pivoting from her lack of national security knowledge to transgender athletes, as The Advocate reported.

“Of course, Taiwan is our friend,” Graham said. “But I think people in South Carolina are more worried about making ends meet. They are concerned about boys in girls’ sports.”

Trump continued that strategy Friday by making transgender people a central part of his argument for Graham. He attacked Andrews as a “far-left political hack who supports transgender for everybody” and accused her of telling “confused children they’re trapped in the wrong body.”

...

Trump may have conflated those medical procedures with agreements his Justice Department has forced on two major hospital systems. Those settlements require Texas Children’s Hospital and the Cleveland Clinic to establish or fund services for people who voluntarily seek to detransition. They do not order hospitals to perform surgery on anyone.

In May, Texas Children’s agreed to pay the state $10 million, end gender-affirming care for minors and establish what federal officials called the country’s first “restorative care” clinic for detransitioners. The Houston hospital also agreed to terminate five physicians connected to its transgender health program and permanently revoke their privileges, as The Advocate reported.

MAGA thinks they smell blood in the water on the trans issue, so that's their chosen wedge issue for the foreseeable future. I'm the past it was abortion, flag burning, kneeling, gay adoption, gay marriage, gay gayness, etc.

The proper answer to any trans nonsense is: "I am not a doctor, and I won't presume to interfere with the medical decisions between any patient and their doctor, on any subject. I have absolutely no opinions on this subject, and do not consider it an appropriate subject for a political discussion. It is an appalling and indefensible political strategy to use any medical issue as a political talking point, so I'm not interested in your opinion either."

That works for ANY medical issue, including abortion.

Shit I need to memorize this speech

[–] SnoopSqueak@lemmy.today 1 points 4 minutes ago

Trans rights are human rights.

Abortion is healthcare.

I would rather push back more directly than try to dodge the conversation.

I asked my idiot aunt (who won't admit to being a Trump supporter but is) why can't politicians leave medical decisions to medical professionals. She said medical professionals can't be trusted because they work for the government. That's how fucking stupid she is. We need the government to intervene in medical decisions because we can't trust professionals who work for the government

Aren't most medical professionals in the US working for private companies?

Reverse surgeries? I'm trying to think what that means literally and I'm not really sure -- isn't a reverse surgery a dissection? 😧

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 1 points 49 minutes ago

Trump thought they were doing gender affirming surgery on mice!

[–] hitmyspot@aussie.zone 3 points 1 hour ago

Wouldn't a reverse trans surgery still be a trans surgery? That's themselves point. Gender confirmation. In this mythical case, confirming the gender they want the person to have rather than the gender they are.

So clearly any previous claims about safety, child safety and surgical regret are completely ingenuine. Quelle surprise?

Post-top surgery trans dude here. Have yet to have any tits forcibly operated back onto me. Which is what they’d have to do, because all my former breast tissue is mostly gone.
