"We did it, Patrick! We made a technological breakthrough!"

A place for all those who loathe AI to discuss things, post articles, and ridicule the AI hype. Proud supporter of working people. And proud booer of SXSW 2024.

AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.

Their defense is dumb. They can collect data on minors under 13 because

"artificial intelligence research services is a novel question of federal law,"

If it's collecting data on children it's not novel.

This is jamming up my heuristics. I don't trust anything coming out of Florida , and certainly not when a trump ally is involved. But also fuck Altman.

It's like seeing two school bullies fight each other. You aren't exactly rooting for either of them but each punch gets a cheer. It also keeps them busy. They would probably end up punching someone either way, so it might as well be each other.

In this case, to my own shock, I'm wholeheartedly rooting for Florida. Altman winning this doesn't actually hurt Florida, but if Florida succeeds in restricting him in any way that's a tiny win for us all.

I think this is in-fighting as they all struggle for the power vacuum they know Trump is gonna be leaving soon. I hope they both lose

Or just performative for the midterms to make it seem like they aren't silicon valley's bitches, which they of course are.

I'm guessing it's just pedophiles trying to extort each other. They can have at it for all I care

Grok is better at pedophilic imagery.

How did this end up with judge Aileen Cannon? Yikes.

[–] bedwyr@piefed.ca 1 points 19 minutes ago

The process that South Florida uses to pick judges from their 13 member circuit or whatever, of which only 11 judges are sitting on as of a few years back, is clearly corrupted. The odds of her being picked for both of the president's cases in that circuit, are 1/121.

It's supposed to be random and they are clearly cheating and no one has even called them on it. The future fucking sucks.

Ah you know what, even if it just sends the signal out there that they're not immortal and that people hate em. I'll take that win.

Why just him? There's also Bezos, Musk, Zuckerberg, Trump and plenty others that are nuisances.

[–] Jax@sh.itjust.works 1 points 7 hours ago

Can't kick the whole hornets nest, otherwise people might start acting like Florida is the shithole that it is

[–] RestrictedAccount@lemmy.world 20 points 9 hours ago

Much of the record that Florida's case relies on is against Altman, including Greg Brockman's diary and Tasha McCauley's testimony about a "toxic culture of lying," which came out at the Musk v. Altman trial in May.

[–] thesdev@feddit.org 4 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Public nuisance? Is that a real legal term? What century is this?

[–] stoly@lemmy.world 2 points 6 hours ago

It’s Florida
