7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

Trump legal team claims the BBC is ‘abusing the deposition process’ as broadcaster fights a $10 billion lawsuit

Donald Trump has accused the BBC of trying to harass his family after the broadcaster sought to subpoena members of his family to challenge his $10 billion defamation lawsuit.

The president is suing the BBC for defamation over a Panorama episode that spliced together two parts of a speech he gave ahead of the Capitol riots in 2021.

Lawyers have requested a U.S. court order Trump’s son Donald Trump Jr, his daughter Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner to give documents and testimony in relation to the case.

Subpoenas in response to litigation YOU started aren't harassment.

[–] jumperalex@lemmy.world 11 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Also, even if you ignore this is Trump and just focus on him being a political figure, here's my response https://youtu.be/S0Vyr1TylTE

You mean the same way you and your lackies harassed Hunter Biden all these years?

[–] djdarren@piefed.social 40 points 3 days ago (2 children)

I am enjoying that he's gone up against one of the oldest, biggest news outlets, an organisation that has some exceptionally good lawyers, and knows EXACTLY what the boundaries are. And he's only now apparently beginning to realise that they won't just fold in fear like everyone else.

The BBC has been sued on far more solid ground by far worse cunts than that sack of shit.

And since he isn't President of their country, they don't have to pay up immediately just to appease him.

[–] Slashme@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I think you mean "far less solid ground" - i.e. they're on very solid ground here.

[–] djdarren@piefed.social 2 points 2 days ago

No, I meant solid ground. As in, Trump's ground is currently made entirely from loose gravel.

[–] A_Random_Idiot@lemmy.world 32 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Trump: Kicks the BBC

BBC: Fights Back

Trump: STOP STOP ITS NOT FAIR YOU'RE NOT ALLOWED TO FIGHT BACK.

[–] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago

Pretty much the MO of any rapist or bully. Or both.

[–] Sludgehammer@lemmy.world 58 points 3 days ago

"Only I get to punch, if you hit back you're a bully!" said a sniffling Trump.

[–] slothrop@lemmy.ca 46 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Trump employed those children as high government officials.

[–] DeathsEmbrace@lemmy.world 13 points 3 days ago (1 children)

And he wants to keep it in the family.

[–] Almacca@aussie.zone 33 points 3 days ago

The fucking whining never stops with this guy.

[–] mrmisses@lemmy.world 38 points 3 days ago

May they never know peace again

[–] argarath@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

How young are trump's "children" again? Just thinking that it's kinda suspicious that they call them children when talking about trump's full grown adult sons and daughter while when talking about the genocide in Gaza they never refer to literal babies or pre-teens and other obvious children as children

[–] ShaggySnacks@lemmy.myserv.one 2 points 2 days ago

It’s just like how the media were calling the victims of Epstein “young women”. No, the victims were children.

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 8 points 2 days ago

The bully-victim whines again.

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 9 points 2 days ago

I don't think it's possible to harass via subpoena, "judge they are harassing me via your order" isn't exactly the best thing you want to be saying to a judge.

[–] ol_capt_joe@piefed.social 17 points 3 days ago

Trump's always thinking of the children

[–] theacharnian@lemmy.ca 12 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

So sue them. I'm sure that discovery process will be fun too.

[–] daychilde@lemmy.world 13 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Trump says

ima stop ya right there

[–] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago

Lies! All lies!

[–] Insekticus@aussie.zone 11 points 3 days ago

Even if the BBC was harassing them by throwing large rocks at their large, malformed heads, I STILL wouldn't give a singular fuck for any of the rotten pieces of shit.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

That is some classic DARVO shit right there.

[–] Paddy_NI@lemmy.world 9 points 3 days ago

What a fucking nonce.

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago

Who cares what happens to a family of traitors and inbreds?

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 3 points 2 days ago

dont you mean trying to expose your involvement of epstein, which your children are part of too.

[–] lizzzy@feddit.uk 5 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Has anyone got a record of all of trumps court cases . Along with the status

[–] P1nkman@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

The list is so long that I don't think you'd be able to read them all, especially considering that he's being sued daily.

[–] Slashme@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

How hard does someone need to try to serve you with a subpoena before they can say "I tried, but I can't make it work"? In Germany, you send the document by registered mail to the official address of the person and it's done, or if it's a court document, the court sends it by official registered mail.

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 5 points 3 days ago (1 children)

always trying to blame it all on the black man!

[–] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

Big ones, especially

[–] Sanctus@anarchist.nexus 4 points 3 days ago

Motherfucker I wish someone would harass your family. Ya'll deserve it more than anyone.

[–] lechekaflan@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Lmao. They should play something to annoy that dickhead, similar to how they obliged a Tory who demanded that they play God Save the Queen at the end of broadcast day... but instead with Sex Pistols.

I am ok with that, even if it was true. I grant billionaire kinda no rights or legal recourse. They can go wah wah wah am they want, but you could say anything that follows "I was wronged by the following ______" and I would laugh and cheer for everything in the blank. Including getting fucking merc"d. I actively cheer for tyrant death and suffering. Every problem you have is a victory for real people. There is no "low" we can sink to that will ever make me feel like you are getting any problem you don't deserve more of. You could be forced to watch your kids penetrated by flaming devil dicks while you bleed out while the world watches your diaper fill and you try to hold your intestines in and I will just watch and laugh.

I can never have any favorable feeling to you, and literally no situation is bad enough for what you deserve. You deserve torture, agony, anguish, and for all of that to happen forever. You actually deserve a literal biblical hell. Not infinitely, maybe. We can pull you out every few millennia and see if you've changed your tune maybe. But you definitely deserve more than a lifetime amount of it.

"You" being trump in particular, but really any billionaire capitalist.

Worst that will happen is a fine that never gets paid. I'm willing to bet that the BBC will PAY Trump money at the end of this because there isn't anyone in the world, with power, that can say no to an elderly, mentally deficienct, traitorous, make-up wearing, pedophile

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Worst that will happen is a fine that never gets paid. I'm willing to bet that the BBC will PAY Trump money at the end of this

Pick one.

[–] Yuccagnocchiyaki@lemmy.world -1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Don't really need to.

More than likely, he will get fined and never pay/ keep appealing.

But I'd be willing to bet that the BBC will pay Trump money at the end of this.

Does that make it more clear with what I meant?

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 1 points 2 days ago

The BBC are not going to capitulate because if they were going to do that they'd have done so already, they've got old trumpelskin on the ropes, why would they give in now? They're making him look like the brainless idiot that of course he is.

[–] LilB0kChoy@reddthat.com 1 points 3 days ago (2 children)

I'm willing to bet that the BBC will PAY Trump money at the end of this

I’ll take your bet. What do you want to wager?

[–] Yuccagnocchiyaki@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

I will give you my finest upvote if you are correct
