Don't worry, you still have plenty of time to learn how to crop an image

[–] vic_rattlehead@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It's so bad that I screenshot it to send to a friend rather than just save it. That's so many more clicks!

[–] NihilsineNefas@slrpnk.net 2 points 1 day ago

To be fair the wifi on, bluetooth on, messenger, phone, linkedin and what im assuming is more linkedinalike notifications kinda cements the meme though

I felt that way in my late 20s. Got married thinking that would fix it. Getting divorced and getting in better shape in the mid 30s while still having no kids was pretty sick. Get therapy, say no to single parents, and travel more to find nicer people who had success from going to therapy makes the time fly.

I wasted that window. I should’ve done what I did 5 years earlier into then, but I was coasting — and fighting with a dying relationship. If you’ve been fighting in your relationship for two, I’d suggest moving on.

Sorry to hear. They say this world is a simulation anyways, nothing matters.

I'm in this picture and I don't like it. There is so much in the world to do, it is not possible to do it all...

[–] Alteon@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I used to be that way at that age. I used to take delight in smelling fresh coffee grounds in the morning while making my coffee, and telling myself "Enjoy it while you can, because you never know when it'll be the last time."

Living like that was stressful. I'm in my late 30's now. It eventually goes away and you just learn to enjoy the life you've got without putting the pressure of "... this goes away at some point," weighing down on you all the time.

It's kinda bullshit that we have to deal with this, tbh. Consciousness, death, and the nature of existence are basically eldritch concepts beyond the scope of scientific reckoning that provably exist. I am not used to experiencing problems in my life that are truly unsolveable, nor unknowable.

Thank you for sharing your experience.

[–] MissJinx@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Then you get to 45 and think "fuck this is too much time, I'm done. When does it end?"

[–] PumpUpTheJam@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Wait I'm barely over half way? Fuck this.
I've taken up smoking again, because what's there to live for? A front row seat to the planet collapsing in on itself? Pass.

[–] heartSagan5@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I wouldn’t speed run into the plausible miserable dying that smoking can grant.

[–] MissJinx@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Yeah smoking is kind of a shitty way to die. I would recommend medication (aka legal drugs lol) If they don't work at all after 6 months then you can think of other more optimal ways lol.

[–] VitoRobles@lemmy.today 3 points 2 days ago

Reddit would have those "Am I too late to change careers. I'm 26yo" posts for like a year straight.

[–] bjoern_tantau@swg-empire.de 13 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (2 children)

My wife is five years older than me. We met when I was 22. I really thought in the beginning "should I really date a 27 year old? That is so old!"

Now we love about that.

Edit: I decided to keep my typo.

[–] BoosBeau@lemmy.world 11 points 2 days ago

She's not a typo, she's a person!

[–] TubularTittyFrog@lemmy.world -1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (3 children)

if you met today everyone would be telling you how immoral and wrong it is and how she abused you if she was older than you.

people are weirdly paranoid about age gaps in relationships these days. it's totally bizarre. social media cooking all of their brains and turning harmless stuff into paranoid delusions of exploitation and abuse.

[–] baines@lemmy.cafe 7 points 2 days ago

he wasn’t 15, she wasn’t 40

[–] bridgeenjoyer@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Divide by 2 and add 7. Checks out

[–] cosmos8188@leminal.space 0 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yep, an human interaction simplified into a mathematical "rule" originating from the 1900 for finding a perfect maid - not really the most reliable thing, dont you think.

There is no need for a pseudo equation to realise that this relationship is fine.

[–] bridgeenjoyer@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Jfc, its a joke. Lemmy is getting as insufferable as reddit. "ACKshualllyyyyy"

[–] cosmos8188@leminal.space 1 points 1 day ago

Just didn't realise it was a joke, sorry.

[–] cosmos8188@leminal.space 0 points 2 days ago (1 children)

That is true, it does happen quite often - especially in reddit; Lemmy does have its share of people who like to turn normalcy into paranoia but at least isnt fully succumbed to the whole 'logic'.

It is bizarre, but the constant indoctrination is to blame here.

[–] TubularTittyFrog@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

people desperate for social approval will believe crazy shit.

[–] AllYourSmurf@lemmy.world 11 points 2 days ago
[–] Fizz@lemmy.nz 5 points 2 days ago

If your in your 20s you should be stressing like crazy because time goes so quick and once you hit 30 its over if you dont have a wife, house, kids and a good job - 29 year old who will be dead next year from no house no wife syndrome

[–] daniskarma@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 days ago

I ran out of time of doing some physical intensive activities before my back decided that it wants to do an early retirement.

people have in in their heads they have to achieve certain things by 30 or they will never happen or you have 'failed' at life and are a 'loser'.

career, house, marriage, kids, etc.

despite the fact, realistically, most of those things are now only achievable by the time you are 40, due to economic reality, and more and more folks will never achieve them also due to that reality. the mentality however, persists, especially among those who are under 30 that 30 is when you 'become adult' and have all the 'adult' things.

only 1/3 of people own a home by 30 today, and I'd guess a huge chunk of those folks inherited that home rather than purchased on their own income. every young home owner i ever met had their home mostly or completely paid or by their parents. it's common for 20 year college kids in my city to own homes, because their folks buy them for them while they attend university. and my only family is thinking of doing that for their kids.

[–] bridgeenjoyer@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 days ago

Its compounded for me by the fact that everything I had or was interested in was 20 years old when I was young, plus I lived in the same neighborhood of courage the cowardly dog. So now, I feel like I'm about 80 and everything truly is over because tech sucks and all my favorite musicians are dead 😆

[–] tmyakal@infosec.pub 2 points 2 days ago

I'm almost 40, and I only know one person who bought their house without direct and significant help from their parents. And that person only managed because they married an older doctor who could afford to buy a foreclosure when prices crashed in '08.

[–] MalReynolds@slrpnk.net 7 points 2 days ago

spoilerIt's not. There's plenty of time, chill and enjoy the ride.

[–] Malyca@lemmy.zip 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Take your incel crap elsewhere

[–] blarghly@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

I dont doubt it is incel crap. But idk, in isolation it seems to me like it is making fun of the stressing about running out of time. Which, idk, feels pro-mental health and enjoying life to me.

Also, I haven't seen anyone break down about this myself - but it is definitely something on some of my female friends' minds. If they want kids, they have a window. You can argue about exactly what it is... but it exists. And they want a runway. They want to find a guy who has his shit together and who has the same goals and values and who is enjoyable to be around, and that can be difficult in the first place. And then they need to date him for a few years until they feel like they are ready to commit. Then they get married, and need to be in a good place financially in order to raise a kid "right". And if they date a guy for a few years and it doesn't work out, then their timeline starts over. Which, while I am not female nor do I have the goal of having kids, does sound like a stressful situation.

[–] Zwiebel@feddit.org 4 points 2 days ago

Nice meme but pls croppp

[–] daggermoon@piefed.world 1 points 2 days ago

It's forever on my mind. The fear and hopelessness is sometimes paralyzing.

[–] undefined@lemmy.hogru.ch 3 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Why is this a screenshot though?

[–] bjoern_tantau@swg-empire.de 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Because OP doesn't use Summit which gives you the option of editing images before upload.

[–] undefined@lemmy.hogru.ch 3 points 2 days ago

Why would you need to edit? Just save the original photo.
