Hello users of Hexbear while we are always accepting moderation applications I would like to begin another formal volunteer drive.

I dont feel qualified to speak on this, I want to have some practice with organizing and protests first.

What are your thoughts on Veganism and Animal Liberation?

Animals do not deserve the exploitation applied to them that has been a constant in most of human history but is at an all time high in the era of capitalism. This includes the consumption of animal products and meat

No, only hexbear

What did those experiences teach you?

What is your approach to moderation, and how do you work with teams?

Moderation should follow common sense first. For complicated moderation decisions the CoC seems helpful. I consider myself to be quite social and to work well in teams.

How do you deal with online drama and people who try to start things for the sake of it?

Wreckers ought to be banned when necessary.

What current communities would you be interested in moderating?

Would you like to create a new community?

No but, kind of because the mathematics community was very inactive.

Do you have any ideas for community engagement?

Effortpost explanations of some topics for interested comrades. Sharing new developments, for example recently the Jacobi-conjecture got proven false with a counter example. That was quite shocking because it's been a popular open problem for a century and was also notorious for many amateur false proofs.

UTC, usually I am active sporadically throughout the day

The Lemmy ui only has the option to add someone as a moderator in the more options menu (the three dots with an arrow next to it) on comments and posts (needing to be in the community you want to be added to) so Carcosa needs one of those to click the button.

My Answers

  2. I often use any but she/her is generally more preferred
  3. It represents something that must be destroyed
  4. It is the highest stage of capitalism (and the direct consequence of reaction)
  5. Lovely place when the Zionist entity isn't actively destroying it, ive been there personally. There is a special place in my heart for the workers of Palestine.
  6. They are human rights :3
  7. There is no workers liberation without racial liberation
  8. Most protest movements are spontaneous and often lack a materialist analysis, often doing little more than sapping the worker of revolutionary energy. Protest can be used to organize a mass workers movement but it rarely is.
  9. I strongly sympathize with veganism however due to reasons outside my current control I am unable to become vegan myself, it is a goal tho
  10. I regularly engage with this community and also leftist communities on discord and YouTube
  11. It taught me that when talking to other genuine leftists if you interact in a genuine way thats not hostile they generally wont be hostile (which is a lesson some people in a unspecified community should learn from)
  12. I work generally quite well in teams, I usually tend to listen to other people even if it harms me personally
  13. Generally I work with other people and push for them to get banned, I find that drama is best stopped early
  14. Politics and chat, ideally anything political but im open to anything :3
  15. Ive deeply considered making a new community and I really want to, I just dont know what to make it about
  16. I generally just interact naturally and find that people tend to engage with natural content
  17. I am in the US (EST) and available at generally random times but atm most of the day and some of the night :3 (I should have a better sleep schedule but I don't)

Btw, I'm modding like 5 comms right now and the usual report load is not that bad. Maybe 5/week? Lots of dupes and multi-reports in struggle threads that are easily resolved with one action too.

What I'm saying is please volunteer, and also if there are any comms that need another set of eyes I'll be on it.
