Why not? I've seen that in movies

[–] Klear@piefed.world 28 points 3 days ago (3 children)

Also, tried?! I use the Force to open those little gates in supermarkes all the time.

[–] recentSlinky@lemmy.ca 14 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Oh it's you doing it? My dad lied to me saying it's electronics system. Thanks for your service :)

[–] Klear@piefed.world 7 points 3 days ago

Dads make up the silliest things.

[–] camembear@sopuli.xyz 1 points 3 days ago

I carry people up the stairs daily. I lift parking barriers with just a swipe. I successfully pushed a cloud out of the way. I also control the flow of water from a garden hose. My force grip is too strong.

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 1 points 3 days ago

Stand on one hand and lift rocks with your special gift

[–] xSikes@feddit.online 4 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Exactly. At least every time there’s an automatic door.

[–] ByteJunk@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

They're called forcefields, did they teach you nothing?

[–] Strider@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

I want to upvote this multiple times

[–] Professorozone@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

Exactly. Got to it before me. Well done.

[–] WhoIzDisIz@lemmy.today 17 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Nah, there's no such thing as The Force - I used telekinesis.

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

Me too. It featured heavily in the science fiction pulp novels I read before Star Wars even came out. And now get off my lawn, damn kids!

[–] thepig@lemmy.zip 14 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

Tried ?? What do you mean tried ? Do or do not, there is no try

[–] stretch2m@infosec.pub 3 points 3 days ago

And that is why they failed.

[–] JoeTheSane@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

Listen, I was 4 when Empire came out. Of course I did this.

Yesterday.

It still doesn’t work.

[–] FrChazzz@lemmus.org 8 points 3 days ago

Here's the deal: given enough time, it WILL work! I've tried it! See, what I do is I reach my hand out toward the remote and close my eyes and stay there. Sometimes it comes quickly, other times it takes several minutes. But the remote always winds up in my hand.

Sure, it's because either my wife or one of my kids has intuited what I'm trying to do and they walk it over to me. But, hey, I'm still getting the remote to my hand regardless!

[–] TheEighthDoctor@lemmy.zip 3 points 3 days ago

Use the force, shoot webs, use telekinesis, launch a kamehameha...

[–] IAmNorRealTakeYourMeds@lemmy.world 7 points 3 days ago (1 children)

how the fuck y'all moving objects without applying force to them?

It's simple. Been doing it for years. I just put my hand out reaching for the item and eventually my wife or daughter hands it to me.

[–] Quokka@quokk.au 6 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I also tried using Matilda powers.

[–] Zizzy@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 3 days ago

Yeah, me too

[–] bampop@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

Admit it? There's not a single commenter here who isn't proud of the effort they put in. I feel like I came pretty close to success myself.

[–] SalamiDommie@lemmus.org 1 points 2 days ago

Tried moving things with my mind, shoot a Kamehameha wave, change the outcome of an event with a ritual or some fake BS, water bend in the shower, flicked a wand (and a bean or two), and attempt to be cooler than I am.

All magic that hasn't worked yet still trying

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 2 points 3 days ago

I have tried and failed in a dream at least once, because even when dreaming reality intrudes to make me miserable.

[–] lightnsfw@reddthat.com 3 points 3 days ago

I mean... What if it works? You'd be a fool not to give a shot every now and then.

[–] BucketBong@p.hobo.social 4 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I did it today, the remote was too far away, so no harm in trying to see if I've accessed the force.

[–] SayJess@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)
[–] BucketBong@p.hobo.social 2 points 3 days ago

Nah, but I did pass out, so that might be something.

[–] arschflugkoerper@feddit.org 3 points 3 days ago

This and earth/water/fire/air bending obviously

[–] ICastFist@programming.dev 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Bitch, I tried to make a ball of chi after seeing Gohan teach Videl how to do it

[–] cmbabul@slrpnk.net 2 points 3 days ago

I refuse to believe anyone claiming to have both seen Dragonball anything and not attempted a Kamehameha

[–] faintwhenfree@lemmus.org 2 points 3 days ago

Yeah, but I didn't think it was force, just garden variety telekinesis.

[–] GreenKnight23@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

not only have I tried, I succeeded!

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 2 points 3 days ago

Duhh, of course. I was quite persistent, actually...

[–] lugal@sopuli.xyz 2 points 3 days ago

And tried to bend a spoon by convincing yourself it doesn't exist

[–] Eternal192@anarchist.nexus 2 points 3 days ago

I keep trying and hoping eventually something will move.

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.world 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

You must be able to use the force for a prostate massage right?

[–] psycotica0@lemmy.ca 1 points 3 days ago

Ropes, I tell you.

No wonder the Jedi order is all about "no love or pleasure" or whatever or they'd get nothing done at all...

[–] sidebro@lemmy.zip 2 points 3 days ago

Double sliding doors are fun

The remote is too far

[–] josephmbasile@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

Oh I have the worst story about this. I was having this wonderful dream where I had telekinesis and I could do all kinds of awesome stuff. Then my alarm started going off.

[–] Sergio@piefed.social 2 points 3 days ago (2 children)

After reading Hitchhiker's Guide, me and my cousin tried to fly by jumping off a (low) wall and forgetting that we were falling.

if you run fast enough horizontally you will fall but miss the ground.

We just didn't want to disappoint D.Wader with our lack of faith.

[–] ThatWeirdGuy1001@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

My guy I made myself pass out trying to go super saiyan. Of course I've tried using the force

[–] Ryanmiller70@lemmy.zip 1 points 3 days ago

Gotta try harder like the GOAT

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 1 points 3 days ago

I tried to move things using my mind. It was before I saw Star Wars though, but the idea was there.

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

I’ve found I can only do it to automatic doors.

[–] YoiksAndAway@piefed.zip 1 points 3 days ago

Not the force, but after a long Bioshock session I felt like I should be able to get something from across the room with telekinesis.
