Yup, we call this the "clito" in France, since the 90s for sure

Restarting like that, it's either overheating (reaching 100°C) but you ruled out that, so low voltages, maybe some voltage on your PSU is weak, sometimes a 1.3V becoming 1.2V and it reboot.

I learnt Caml in the 90s at university, I was completely lost, in Prolog too.

I'm listening to African music like Kora, I discovered Toumani Diabaté and Balaké Sissoko, this is pretty cool, I really like it, it's relaxing

Already had huge X Terminal on HP mainframe, using X11R3 and mwm etc. xeyes, xload, xbiff, xterm, it was the time!

[-] Magister@lemmy.world 8 points 5 days ago

I guess it was in the 80s, open a new xterm, ps -edaf | grep vi, kill the process, then man vi to read how to exit properly.

This is how I learnt unix, do a ls in /bin /usr/bin /etc, man every command

I have an old application, EagleCAD, from 2014, a 32bit app, I managed to install it on my linux (Debian based, 64bits) and it works fine, but I had to look for and install some lib manually.

How can I package all this, the bin and libs, into one that I could easily re-install on about any distro? AppImage? Flatpak? Snap?

And strangely enough those kind of guy live in a million $$$ mansion or condo and spend $50'000/month on frivolities, even in bankruptcy

It's incredible that I was on reddit for 13 years or something, daily, maybe I spent 20'000 hours there. Then I dropped after the API fiasco (I'm a SyncPro user) and never went back, I have no clue what's going on since ~July and I don't care and I don't miss it :)

My Y daughter is doing well, maybe it will be shitty for her to buy a house or condo but she can. My Z one, yeah, I'm helping her, paying stuff here and there like groceries, microwave, etc, she's in her own flat and all and is not too bad but still, rent is 40% of her earning. It's ok to help your kids.
