You can work with music on??

[–] Appoxo@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Almost playing continously at work

[–] FrankenSpinach@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

What kind of unit of measurement is a Europe per Berlin?

[–] Zink@programming.dev 2 points 1 day ago

my fellow americans: "Sounds pretty awesome, and so fancy and European. Throw it on the pile with all the other imperial units!"

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 10 points 2 days ago (1 children)

You're going to be deaf by 35.

[–] PhoenixDog@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I'm 39 and still not deaf.

Your move.

[–] Unstoppable_Flop@lemmy.zip 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)
[–] WorldsDumbestMan@lemmy.today 2 points 2 days ago

Hehe, seems the deafness did get you, though!

[–] JoMiran@lemmy.ml 38 points 3 days ago (2 children)

My wife doesn't understand how i can think with EDM on headphones, but it really does work.

[–] LemmyThinkAboutIt@lemmy.zip 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

She would if she had robot ears.

I'm thinking about getting metal legs. It's a risky operation, but it'll be worth it.

Crust punk works well too. Or anything chaotic

Its like when two waves crash into each other they cancel out. My brain is one chaotic wave, dingy punk is the other.

[–] Unpigged@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Gore grind is crust on steroids. Give Brilliant Behemoth a go. Or JigAi. Or even Last Days of Humanity

[–] tetris11@feddit.uk 4 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I'm penchant to Bone Dirger when Gore becomes too much. Try the Fateful Five mix, or take Monty's Ghost for a whirl

[–] Unpigged@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I can't resolve that to any music. If it is, please give links, I'm intrigued.

[–] tetris11@feddit.uk 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

No, I just wanted to join in the shop talk

[–] Unpigged@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 day ago

Phew. For some time I thought I went Google illiterate.

anything chaotic

Most of the time I'll have an earworm song in my head... but the thing is it's usually not alone.
Anything can be chaotic enough if you mash up enough different songs together at the same time.

[–] domdanial@reddthat.com 2 points 2 days ago

Give breakcore a try. I also found this https://youtu.be/DDFNgs7gp8M, 30 minutes of adhd cure.

[–] Toneswirly@beehaw.org 3 points 2 days ago

I used to listen to Meshuggah at full volume to fall asleep. My roomate thought I was crazy but polyrhythms soothe my savage brain.

[–] Nemo@slrpnk.net 21 points 3 days ago (1 children)

There are memes I've been wanting –but unready!– to post for literal years.

[–] Zoop@beehaw.org 2 points 1 day ago

You're not alone there!

[–] LogicalDrivel@sopuli.xyz 10 points 3 days ago (1 children)

My brand of neurospicey has a heavy musical lean to it. I wanted to be a school music director at one point. Took years and years of classes but it wasn't in the cards. I can't listen to music now, without directing it in my head or drumming out the beat. The more chaotic and out there, the more i focus on the music and not what im supposed to be doing. For me, its got to be chill lofi or jazz or nothing at all.

[–] kureta@lemmy.ml 5 points 2 days ago

I cannot listen to music and do anything but listen to music. So, to feed the ADHD, I play rain sounds, Blade Runner Sci-fi atmosphere sounds, airport control tower, police radio firefighter radio, all at the same time, so I hear speech but it is impossible for me to understand what people say and focus on it.

[–] EggInDisguise@lemmy.blahaj.zone 18 points 3 days ago

Ah yes, hacking by self medicating.

Adhd and drinking amounts of caffeine that would explode a gorilla's heart. Name a more iconic duo

[–] FreshLight@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

For me it's Japanese Club Music.

[–] Appoxo@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 day ago

EDM (chill stuff), lofi, jpop and city pop

Not working is (hard) rock, edm (more intense), rap and jpop.

Usually work is less lyrical or even fully instrumental vs free time is more attention grabbing stuff :)

[–] Unpigged@lemmy.dbzer0.com 17 points 3 days ago

It's so specific it's mean.

[–] WorldsDumbestMan@lemmy.today 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I am literally doing this now, are we really all the same?

[–] chiliedogg@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

Considering you're fucking around on Lemmy while writing that email... yes.

[–] booscience@beehaw.org 8 points 3 days ago

This, but I’m building a bocce ball court in the back yard to get closer to the plants I need to repot but it’s giving me anxiety because there’s so many. So instead I dig a hole in the yard 40x10 while blasting Pheobe Bridgers

[–] mundane@sh.itjust.works 7 points 3 days ago (1 children)

As soon as I blast heavy metal in my headset I get into the zone. Great for getting shit done, bad for my hearing.

[–] Quexotic@infosec.pub 6 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Ooh, I must try this.... Maybe not so loud though

[–] rbos@lemmy.ca 5 points 3 days ago

Mind your eardrums.

[–] yermaw@sh.itjust.works 4 points 3 days ago

Replace music with audiobook/comedy-recording and watch my house get tidy.

[–] Ioughttamow@fedia.io 4 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Watch out for the tinnitus, static

[–] OldBoy@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 days ago

This is me. Lots of very loud music in my past and now at 51 I still have surprisingly good hearing (can hear those anti-teen mosquito speakers if I'm close-ish) but the tinnitus gets wild sometimes. Luckily for me it works like white noise when I need to sleep. Bonus!

[–] hateisreality@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Ugh....the bane of my existence. Use earplugs kids

[–] CommanderCloon@lemmy.ml 2 points 3 days ago

TIL it's an ADHD thing, huh

[–] unknown1234_5@kbin.earth 3 points 3 days ago

I've recently found using my Skullcandy crushers to play music in a manner that would make a nightclub blush while studying can keep me from constantly looking around at everything but what I'm studying
