Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

What good is being president if you can’t instruct your justice department to investigate the woman you raped? Excuse me! I thought this was America!

[–] Sanctus@anarchist.nexus 153 points 6 days ago (1 children)

All pretenses of not being a personal bludgeon have been dropped.

[–] T00l_shed@lemmy.world 67 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Was there any pretense before?

[–] BonsaiBoo@lemmy.world 40 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Well corporate media outlets held a pretense to toe the line and try to keep social democratic movements from gaining popularity by pretending all is normal, all is well.

[–] T00l_shed@lemmy.world 11 points 6 days ago

Sure, when it comes to media, but the pretense of the doj not being a cudgel is what i meant

[–] shittydwarf@sh.itjust.works 104 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Actually she is his adjudicated rape victim, not accuser

[–] Blackfeathr@lemmy.world 50 points 6 days ago (1 children)

CNN is owned by a MAGA billionaire shithead and the use of the word "accuser" instead of "sexual assault survivor" is likely intentional.

Literal political weaponization to go after a victim of your leader. The Republican party is so despicable...

Imagine thinking deplorable doesn't define a republican, especially with actions like these and days like Jan 6th under their belt.

[–] Graymouzer@lemmy.world 58 points 6 days ago (14 children)

Accuser makes it sound like he was not found guilty of rape. If Trump is not impeached the US will be rightly viewed as an autocratic banana republic.

[–] kreskin@lemmy.world 26 points 6 days ago (12 children)

I feel like we blew past banana republic a while back and are onto deciding whether we're a nation of laws at all anymore. The idea that the US is a democracy is laughable.

First he raped her. Then he violated her. Now he will try to kill her. I want her on a coin.

[–] Mouselemming@sh.itjust.works 24 points 6 days ago (1 children)

She should get the entire slush fund.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 19 points 6 days ago

^ This.

Cannot wait to see some reporter or politician ask Todd Blanche if she's eligible for the money.

[–] underThunder@thelemmy.club 45 points 6 days ago (2 children)

Why is this not an Onion headline?

[–] adarza@lemmy.ca 20 points 6 days ago (1 children)

we skidded out of that timeline years ago. there's no way back.

Is this the same administration that said Biden weaponized the DOJ?

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 26 points 6 days ago

Every accusation is a confession of either what the Repedopublicans are already doing, or what they plan to do.

Every. Time.

OK, but if she wins again Trump gets hanged. Deal?

[–] jj4211@lemmy.world 10 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Nah, the fix is in. Trump's administration doesn't even pretend to be on the up and up. Openly corrupt and the conservative wing has lost its mind more than usual to approve the behavior, whether it's in courts or congress.

They are going to toss her in prison for daring to inconvenience dear leader.

[–] chiliedogg@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago

This justice department is very incompetent. The only political prosecution they ever got to a trial I can remember is the guy who threw a sandwich at one of their thugs, and the jury threw that shit out.

Everything else has been dismissed because this is the worst bunch of lawyers to ever lawyer.

2 years ago, career attorneys with decades of experience would drop everything to get a job in the justice department because it was so prestigious. Now they're having trouble recruiting kids straight out of law school graduating at the bottom of their class.

And federal judges are DONE with these clowns. It's not just a presumption of innocence for the defendant. The justices's default assumptions are increasingly that the justice department is actively lying.

[–] obvs@lemmy.world 26 points 6 days ago (5 children)

STOP. CALLING. IT. THE. JUSTICE. DEPARTMENT.

It is the JUSTIFICATION Department.

The GOP just HATES the law. They must despise having a Constitution which establishes a country of laws since they allow this kind of autocratic dictator shit to keep going on under their seal of approval.

[–] zebidiah@lemmy.ca 8 points 6 days ago

Wilholt's law:

Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect.

[–] DragonAce@lemmy.world 15 points 6 days ago

Will no one rid us of this turbulent ~~priest~~ Todd Blanche?

God I'm so sick of this entire corrupt administration and their fucking childish vindictive bullshit.

[–] ryantown@lemmy.world 22 points 6 days ago (7 children)

The irony of him drawing more attention to this through his vendetta.

Good thing they just created a fund for people who are victims of a weaponized justice system.

Hasn't he given her enough money? You already know she's unforgivably litigious, so you give her another reason to sue, after the judge inevitably throws out this case, like they've thrown out every one of these cases?

[–] FistingEnthusiast@lemmy.world 16 points 6 days ago (3 children)

He hasn't paid a cent

And it sounds a lot like you're accusing her of being vexatious

I didn't rape that woman, I only rape children. I didn’t loose the 2020 election. My very fine phone call with Georgia proves that. 🫲🍊🫱

"Babe wake up, new most corrupt thing ever just dropped"

Political weaponization/slush fund compensation incoming? No? What do you mean corruption?

[–] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 10 points 6 days ago

Well, some people no doubt thought the orange buffoon was preferable to a woman in a powersuit with a funny laugh...

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 9 points 6 days ago (6 children)

I think he thinks he's dying and he doesn't want a rape on his record before he dies. Whether or not he's actually dying, is anyone's guess.

[–] bus_factor@lemmy.world 22 points 6 days ago (4 children)
