"We also have reports of multiple children standing on each others shoulders and putting a trench coat over themselves."

That is Vincent Adultman and he's a business manager at the business factory.

I swear to god biometric security has to be one of those topics with the largest dissonance between how the general public views it and how experts view it because every expert guide recommends you never do any of it. Even removed from bypassing it with some makeup or an A4 printout of a finger print held at a bit of a distance overriding most of these systems you're still stuck at it's really hard to change your biometrics. Like even if you don't care for your face ending up in any number of databses freely purchaseable to anyone you only have the one. If that gets compromised everything downstream of it being your security is right the fuck out. Most fingerprint sensors don't even check for other biometrics such as "does this have a pulse or somewhat appropiate heat for a human body".

I am fully aware at least half of the reason to do this is to build a database for natsec pervert reasons

I'm somewhat of an expert here, and I recommend against biometric ID. But I'm pretty sure I've seen other experts be open to the idea.

The kids are alright

Kid in the pic looks legit, they should let him buy that six pack.

im a billion years old and i would not pass facial recog age checkpoints without facial hair

[–] WalleyeWarrior@midwest.social 6 points 4 days ago

I'm 30 and trying to grow facial hair makes me look 15 years younger in a real bad way. A month of growth makes me look like a teenager trying to grow a beard for the first time

Ah yes, I sure do love "adulting".

[–] Zuzak@hexbear.net 7 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Maybe they should check height? I can't think of any way kids could fake that.

[–] oliveoil@hexbear.net 3 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Discriminating against midgets?

[–] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 8 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

hmm surprised it isn't in the slur filter, but "midget" is offensive to little people with dwarfism. I know this because one of my childhood friends is a little person and I sort of on again off again was seeing some with dwarfism. Anyway not sure if you know but it is what it is.

[–] oliveoil@hexbear.net 3 points 4 days ago (1 children)

People with dwarfism is their term I should use?

Because it would feel wrong to call them dwarves.

[–] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

"Little People" dwarfism is weird because it's the medical term

[–] Kefla@hexbear.net 3 points 4 days ago

As always the correct term is whatever the individual person you're talking about prefers, which is 99% of the time just going to be their name unless there's a really good reason to discuss medical conditions

I've met some who find the term "little person" really condescending. Personally my default is either "short/really short people" since that's just using the terms by which we refer to everyone else, or person with dwarfism if there's a specific reason to have to discuss the group of people with the medical condition.

Really to me it seems like there's only one wrong answer, and that's the one oliveoil went with lmao
