Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

MODERATORS

Donald Trump’s approval rating has hit its worst level during his two terms in office, with more than six in 10 Americans disapproving of the president’s job performance.

Trump’s rating is at its worst on the cost of living and other economic issues since launching his deeply unpopular war against Iran in February, which has plunged the global economy into an oil crisis and sent gas prices rocketing to a four-year high.

Two-thirds of Americans now feel the country is headed in the wrong direction.

This. Exactly this is the main problem in the US

[–] NotAnonymousAtAll@feddit.org 3 points 12 hours ago* (last edited 12 hours ago)

Meanwhile in Germany, somewhere around 12 % are satisfied with the work of Chancellor Friedrich Merz with somewhere around 85 % actively disapproving.

Don't get me wrong, I too am far from satisfied with the work of Chancellor Merz, but with all his faults he is still far away from being anywhere near as awful as Trump.

[–] hateisreality@lemmy.world 3 points 13 hours ago

The fuck is wrong with the 4 other assholes?

[–] Ledivin@lemmy.world 13 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

And 4/10 don't understand why Homelander is a bad guy

[–] Thebeardedsinglemalt@lemmy.world 4 points 16 hours ago

4/10 think history class framing US slavery as wrong and Nazi's were the bad guys in WW2 is "liberal propaganda"

[–] febra@lemmy.world 15 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Four in ten Americans are mentally impaired

[–] rumba@lemmy.zip 3 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

you know, maybe Thanos had a point

[–] Thebeardedsinglemalt@lemmy.world 1 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

With the way this timeline is going, the 50% of those snapped would be from the 6/10

[–] rumba@lemmy.zip 1 points 6 hours ago

Yeah, the real question is Thanos wearing a maga hat

[–] MithranArkanere@lemmy.world 2 points 21 hours ago

It is really worrisome news.

The media manipulation of the rich works too well.

No free country can survive without publicly funded independent media.

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 29 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Lol.

Without a doubt the worst president in U.S. history and we're only at 6 of 10?

This nation is a fucking clown car flying off a cliff made of clowns into a black hole of endless Mandelbrot clowns.

To be clear, this country is far, far too stupid for anything other than continued collapse to happen even after this pedophile is being eaten by worms.

[–] MonkeMischief@lemmy.today 0 points 21 hours ago

Without a doubt the worst president in U.S. history and we're only at 6 of 10?

Well hey they didn't ask me. Sounds like they didn't ask you either. I dunno who is even answering these things.

Sounds like they're missing a lot of Americans in these surveys! I bet it's more like 8 or 9 out of 10 if the survey was more obviously available.

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 29 points 1 day ago

4 in 10 Americans be like

[–] Bubbaonthebeach@lemmy.ca 12 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Unfortunately it seems that 8 in 10 Americans also think the Democrats are "just as bad".

[–] Pacattack57@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago (3 children)

8/10 Americans think Trump is bad but Kamala laughed funny

[–] Kptkrunch@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago (4 children)

As someone who voted for Kamala Harris.. I really wish people would stop pretending like she was a good candidate. She was the better candidate.. relative to a sentient bag of shit. To be fair, the fact that the democrats were split on whether or not incinerating children was okay, probably meant that they were doomed to lose the election no matter who they ran..

[–] flying_sheep@lemmy.ml 3 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

sentient

Arguable, he has zero internal monologue and has to express everything he comes up with immediately out loud. If he's sentient, a LLM is too.

"To make our perfect president we stuck a we-have-Grok-at-home LLM into a trashbag full of molding human(?) waste, and gave it access to social media. We're geniuses."

They are just as bad. Or more accurately they are the same thing. They are both classical liberals and a classic liberal democracy is not viable. Capitalists with free reign.

Given the power of data aggregation, modeling, think tanks and llm human voters are a solved puzzle. At this point they are just testing the models.

“Says here we can do x and that will only move 3% of the electorate”. “REALLY!!” “Yep”.

The whole thing has to burn and we need some ground up reconstruction of our political system. Otherwise it’s just a dystopian cyberpunk future.

[–] Gammelfisch@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago

Plenty of dumb racist pedo protecting bastards in the survey.

[–] YetAnotherNerd@sopuli.xyz 117 points 2 days ago (9 children)

4 are fine with this. Which is terrifying.

[–] Malyca@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 day ago

What's terrifying is we're going to do nothing about it

[–] skeezix@lemmy.world 44 points 2 days ago (10 children)

This. The take home here is that the people are still 40% stupid.

4 in 10 are propagandized to shit

[–] mech@feddit.org 10 points 1 day ago (2 children)

No, at least 3 in 10 genuinely agree with what he's doing, have always thought this way, and are glad that behavior like his can be shown out in the open without consequences now.

4 outa 10 people are fucking stupid.

[–] modus@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago (1 children)

4 in 10 aren't paying attention and/or are bad people and bad citizens.

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

Not paying attention isn't an excuse after a decade. They're bad people at best and traitors at worst.

Those numbers are higher than the 30% that voted for him. Sounds like he’s doing well.

[–] GarboDog@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

Chat, we’re pretty sure those numbers are wrong… more like 9/10

[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 12 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Always that 30-40%.

[–] sportsjorts@lemmy.zip 10 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Only 6 in 10!!!!!!!!!!!??????

6:4, isn't that the ratio its always been?

[–] mrgoosmoos@lemmy.ca 11 points 1 day ago

weird, 6 in 10 Americans didn't turn up to vote against him

[–] darkmogool@feddit.org 17 points 2 days ago (1 children)

And the other 40% are idiots…

[–] GTKashi@lemmy.world 31 points 2 days ago (5 children)

Oh look, another 6/10 survey. File it with the “2/3 of Americans aren’t massive idiots” and “60 to 70% of people agree good things are good and bad things are bad” surveys.

It’s the drawer next to the “51% vote for nonsense” drawer.

40% of Americans say president is not doing a bad job.

[–] n1ck_n4m3@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago (3 children)

In other news, 4 in 10 Americans should either be launched into the sun or hung for treason.
