Ye Power Trippin' Bastards

1834 readers
192 users here now

This is a community in the spirit of "Am I The Asshole" where people can post their own bans from lemmy or reddit or whatever and get some feedback from others whether the ban was justified or not.

Sometimes one just wants to be able to challenge the arguments some mod made and this could be the place for that.

Posting Guidelines

All posts should follow this basic structure:

  1. Which mods/admins were being Power Tripping Bastards?
  2. What sanction did they impose (e.g. community ban, instance ban, removed comment)?
  3. Provide a screenshot of the relevant modlog entry (don’t de-obfuscate mod names).
  4. Provide a screenshot and explanation of the cause of the sanction (e.g. the post/comment that was removed, or got you banned).
  5. Explain why you think its unfair and how you would like the situation to be remedied.

Rules

Expect to receive feedback about your posts, they might even be negative.

Make sure you follow this instance's code of conduct. In other words we won't allow bellyaching about being sanctioned for hate speech or bigotry.

YPTB matrix channel: For real-time discussions about bastards or to appeal mod actions in YPTB itself.

I got 2 comments removed and a 1-day ban from lemmy@lemmy.ml (of course it's .ml 🙄) for violating 'rule 2', which doesn't exist, at least not in the sidebar.

I'm willing to consider that 'rule 2' is about discussing .ml, but the second comment was a definition. nutomic@lemmy.ml got his fefes hurt by a dictionary.

Thread in question: https://lemmy.zip/post/62996430

Edit: fucking lol I didn't expect everyone here to be a fucking hypocrite. As I've been told, Rule 2 on .ml is be respectful. Was OP being respectful when they insulted LW? Bunch of backpedalling ignants.

Post: Wow, this admin just banned a ton of people for being anti-genocide. What a cesspool.

You: You're a bunch of sanctimonious circlejerkers. Genocide is cool and good, actually.

Also You: I did not violate any rules! Rule 2 doesn't even exist! It definitely doesn't say, 'don't be an asshole; especially not a contrarian asshole,' and if it did, I didn't break it.

i-love-not-thinking YDI. YDM. Get banned, nerd.

What he said, YDI.

At first I thought PTB, after reading further context YDI, this comment was responding to the criticism of Zionism.

You are calling people are against genocide smug!?

[–] Wakmrow@hexbear.net 20 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (2 children)

You came into a thread about anti zionism and called ml users sanctimonious.

In that context, redacted

This should be the top comment!

There was nothing anti-zionist about the post. It was using zionist as an insult/slur against LW, which I'm not fond of but it's pots and kettles enforcing the idea of 'rules for thee but not for me'.

[–] Luminous5481@anarchist.nexus 19 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

lemmy.ml isn't zionist, so it's not "pots and kettles"

[–] Inui@hexbear.net 16 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Zionist is a not a slur and you're sucking down some Grade A hasbara shit if you think so.

It used to have rules. I don't know why they was removed. Maybe the rule was civility, i don't know

[–] calmblue75@lemmy.ml 5 points 2 weeks ago

Bunch of backpedalling ignants.

Quite respectful you are.

[–] curbstickle@anarchist.nexus 4 points 2 weeks ago

There are, broadly speaking, plenty of things I disagree with .ml and hexbears on. This sure isn't one of them.

YDI.

Friend, complaining here didn't turn out the way you thought it would, huh? LMAO

YDI

ML dwellers often have fragile ego and enormous bigotry.

[–] IntrovertTurtle@lemmy.zip 2 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

I just reread the sidebar, and per the first sentence, my comments were not against the rules.

Everything about Lemmy; bugs, gripes, praises, and advocacy.

My comments can be considered a gripe, which is explicitly allowed.

[–] Luminous5481@anarchist.nexus 14 points 3 weeks ago

I just reread the sidebar, and per the first sentence, my comments were not against the rules.

rule 2 specifically states:

No bigotry - including racism, sexism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, or xenophobia.

zionism is bigotry. specifically, it is an ethno-nationalist religious surpemacy colonial movement that believes white Jews are a specific gods chosen people who were promised the earth (gods don't exist and all religions are myths). zionism advocates for the mass murder of anyone who is not zionist. it's one of the most racist and xenophobic ideologies on the planet, no different than nazism. by defending zionists (eww, that's fucking gross you weirdo), you are defending that bigotry and engaging in it yourself.

you broke the most important rule of lemmy.ml there is. on top of that, zionism is also against the rules of all instances in the FAF, meaning it's against the rules of dbzer0, which is where this post currently resides. the rule banning zionism and defense of it was voted on by all the members, by the way, so don't expect many people here to be sympathetic to your right-wing bullshit.

Assuming context of your screenshots, they look offensive for them, since they don't like the truth about themselves and their beliefs.
