Hats-off to the brave folks saying what we all know deep down: stepping on shit feels good, but it’s taboo so we pretend that it doesn’t.

It's reminiscent of the koan [The Tiger and The Strawberry] (https://www.dailybuddhism.com/archives/903).

Ok I know this one! It's actually translated correctly. It's 踩屎感. It literally means "like stepping in shit." It's just a Chinese expression. 踩屎 itself can mean comfy.

Seems like it was machine translated literally rather than an equivalent English phrase like "walking on clouds" or something.

I remember years ago some product description where "foam" in the original language got translated into "scum" in English and I assumed something similar had to have happened here, but I guess not, lol

[–] CliffordBigRedDog@hexbear.net 6 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Iman Pond Scum is kinda like a foam

[–] doublepepperoni@hexbear.net 3 points 3 weeks ago

In Scandinavian languages scum just means foam (spelled skum)

10 euros(?) To get the quiet comfort and warm nostalgia of stepping on a cowpie on my grandpappy's farm sounds like a steal to me

You people say "cowpie" too? Thought it was just a Dutch thing

Lmao

My mom used something like these for years and now she has severe nerve damage because they lacked proper support

[–] corgiwithalaptop@hexbear.net 3 points 3 weeks ago

Good to know!

[–] doublepepperoni@hexbear.net 8 points 3 weeks ago

They look like nice insoles and they only cost like 3 bucks but that ad is incredible

[–] Evilsandwichman@hexbear.net 7 points 3 weeks ago

I feel like I should try and get these

[–] chgxvjh@hexbear.net 5 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

And is it feeling like stepping on shit?

[–] RNAi@hexbear.net 14 points 3 weeks ago

Is it wet and warm?

[–] tamagotchicowboy@hexbear.net 10 points 3 weeks ago

These are actually pretty good for the price. I was told its because it comes from a saying meaning comfortable, a lost in culture thing. My fav ones when I was in retail was mugwort edition of the stepping on shit insoles before I got tuned into the 'fat man 220' insoles which are legendary, twice the price though.

[–] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 7 points 3 weeks ago

If humans pooed 4d clouds we'd be a lot better off

[–] comrade_pibb@hexbear.net 8 points 3 weeks ago

ProTip: you can step in shit for free

[–] GrouchyGrouse@hexbear.net 7 points 3 weeks ago
