Another Hollywood illusion shattered.

Real talk tho, Zootopia 2 is way better then I thought it would be. Like it's better then the first and that's something.

[–] Obnomus@lemmy.ml 2 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

Uhhh I haven't watch any of zootopia are they really good?

[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 2 points 14 hours ago

“Really good?”

These aren’t Pixar tearjerkers.

Are they fun and entertaining? Sure. I enjoyed the jokes and humor.

[–] gon@lemmy.dbzer0.com 10 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

Well, now I gotta freaking watch it...

[–] snoons@lemmy.ca 6 points 21 hours ago (3 children)
[–] JetpackJackson@feddit.org 2 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

My best friend recommended it to me and I still havent gone and watched it... Could I also get a bit of a push to watch it

[–] snoons@lemmy.ca 2 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

There are two wolves inside of you. Wait no, stop you're gunna start a how- AWOOOOOOOOOWOOOOWOOO

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 4 points 17 hours ago* (last edited 17 hours ago)

i mean all you had to say was it's good, i'll watch just about anything that isn't criminal. Like when surgery videos came on public access my mother would turn them on because they really are quite interesting and you learn a lot once you get over the "oh yeah i have one of those too" factor.

maybe not great for six year olds to watch, but i mean you only get traumatized like that once. if it was an experiment to see if any of us would end up as MDs, the answer is no. We got a professional patient out of the litter of kids though.

[–] SmackemWittadic@lemmy.world 4 points 20 hours ago (2 children)

Can this apply to me too so I can be more motivated to go see it?

[–] tacosanonymous@mander.xyz 4 points 18 hours ago

I think it’s already on DVD. Just get it at your local library.

[–] snoons@lemmy.ca 6 points 20 hours ago

I will force feed it to you via elon musks neuralink if you don't watch it.

The thing about zootopia is that nobody is fucking outside their species. So perhaps the happy ending for Officer Hopps and Mr Foxxy here would be to each find a mate in their respective species.

Also, how do they produce meals for the carnivores in Zootopia?

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 21 points 21 hours ago* (last edited 21 hours ago) (3 children)

There are mixed species couples in Zootopia tho. They just weren't in the foreground. The two neighbors you hear through Judy's apartment walls are mixed species and gay.

The second movie also shows non-sapient animals exist so they are likely eating meat (and milk) from regular, non anthro animals.

All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.

Oh nice so like a Goofy and Pludo situation. Sick. Fucking sick

[–] HikingVet@lemmy.ca 1 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago)

Goofy is a cow though.

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 3 points 17 hours ago

Goofy isn't fucking Pluto though. I think Mickey and Pluto had a love-child and that's how we got Goofy but we're really getting into the experimental xenocartoanthropology

[–] QuantumSparkles@sh.itjust.works 3 points 16 hours ago* (last edited 16 hours ago)

So basically Beastars. Which would make the answer to his last question “insect-based meat-replacement”

[–] PonyOfWar@pawb.social 19 points 22 hours ago (2 children)

Carnivores in Zootopia eat fish and insects, which are considered non-sentient, as well as plant protein.

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 7 points 17 hours ago

By fish do you mean bees and beavers? The Vatican and State of California have urgent questions that must be answered about this film.

[–] FinjaminPoach@lemmy.world 9 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

Zootopia is built on blood and lies...

[–] LurkingLuddite@piefed.social 5 points 21 hours ago (2 children)

Scientists just found sentience in a small fish, so... Yea.

Anyone, including the writers of Zootopia, that say animals aren't sentient and especially if they say they don't have emotions and feel things ... are just telling you they are an unempathetic monster.

[–] PonyOfWar@pawb.social 8 points 20 hours ago* (last edited 20 hours ago) (1 children)

I meant to write sapient, not sentient. Fixed.

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 2 points 17 hours ago

I would love to read that article and see how they defined sentiences, senescence, tumescence, sapience, all that for their research. shitposting aside that sounds really interesting.

[–] palordrolap@fedia.io 11 points 21 hours ago (2 children)

nobody is fucking outside their species

Is this canon? They're probably not having kids outside their species because that (probably) wouldn't work (given the apparent lack of weird hybrids), but just plain copulation? Heck, we see that in the real world occasionally.

As for what the carnivores are eating, two possibilities present themselves: 1) The Disney Goofy / Pluto paradox is resolved by realising that one is more evolved than the other, and while they're related species, they're not the same species. The Zootopia world may have less evolved equivalents of the multiple sapient species, and they may be OK with eating them. 2) You don't see any humans in their world. Does that mean they're not there? Longpig is said to be delicious...

I hate being reminded of this

My headcanon now. It's the only thing that makes sense, and any theory that solves 2 or 3 problems at once is likely to be true

[–] OwOarchist@pawb.social 3 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

I think the better question is ... where do all their dairy products come from?

[–] FinjaminPoach@lemmy.world 7 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

Sick freaks who like to milk themselves

[–] roguetrick@lemmy.world 4 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

Which is great, but realize the implications of industrial self milking: even if you can still produce milk for a bit after weening time with hormone supplements you will run dry until you have another kid. They're just popping them out to keep up their milk production.

[–] FinjaminPoach@lemmy.world 2 points 13 hours ago

Or maybe all animals love being milked so there's like a milk drive - much like human blood drives - where all who are able go to donate their milk. All the animal milks get mixed together in one big unhoky cornucopia vat of mammal juice. All nutrient combos blend together. The centre of Zootopian civilisation is their ritual milk drinking. All hail the milk mother. Mammalia Invicti
