No no, keep that one. They wrote it about us bombing the living hell out of their stuff. It would be better if it mentioned the arson.

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.

We know with great precision what they are now.

At least its twin the alphabet song is actually quite useful to have memorized.

Saying this would go so hard in elementary school

Hey Jude.

I fucking hate it.

ok. story time. Had this friend of friend in highschool. Super stoner idiot type which was kinda funny because he hung out with our nerd group regularly (burnout/nerd crossover was surprisingly not uncommon). We are at a pizza hut with a jute box. Guy goes and puts some money in and is like. Oh man I saw this sound that sounds so cool. Hey Dude. He was very disapointed.

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 weeks ago

Bone apple tea!

Bohemian Rhapsody. All fluff, no substance.

Yeah, it's very contrived. I've lost friends for sharing this opinion as well.

Mamma mia..mamma mia...

Platypus: Easy come, easy go, will you let me go? Queen fans: Bismillah! No, we will not let you go

For me, pretty much all of Bob Dylan's production. I know he's supposed to be a Nobel-Prize-winning genius singer and songwriter, and everybody is in total awe of his talent, but... honestly, I've seen people sing better and play the guitar better in the metro.

I don't dislike Bob Dylan, and his lyrics were a powerful product of his time. But he's always seems very meh to me as a musician. I just don't get the hype.

He was important for the time when songs were political statements, not just money grabs like today. Don't wait for a Taylor Swift "Fuck ICE" song anytime soon.

But I hate how Boomer music is rammed down our throats and are told we have to love it. Fuck the Beatles.

Taylor Swift is a billionaire. She's in the club. She's not gonna shit the bed πŸ™‚

Ah. The Steve Miller effect.

[–] owenfromcanada@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 weeks ago

Bob Dylan was loved for his song writing. People didn't love his voice or his playing, but they loved hearing him in spite of his voice because his songs meant so much.

The most popular versions of his songs were often recorded by other folk groups.

[–] Maven@piefed.zip 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Bob Dylans entire thing is that he can't sing and he knows it.

Hes talked many times about how ridiculous it felt for him to be grouped with some of the greatest singers of all time when he was at award shows or other music stuff.

Just look at his expression in the We Are The World music video:

Confusion

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 weeks ago

Folk music is not about singing or the tune, it's just poetry to music.

[–] howmuchlonger@lemmy.org 1 points 2 weeks ago

For him I think it was right time right place. How many bands/musicians could be transplanted to another time and still have success with the same music? Very few.

Smells like teen spirit is one of those songs that you simply don't listen to in your own time even if you're a big Nirvana fan. If you listen to Nevermind, you start on track 2.

Do They Know It's Christmas

[–] davidgro@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

It's pretty metal though:

"There's a world outside your window
And it's a world of dreaded fear
Where the only water flowing
Is the bitter sting of tears
And the Christmas bells that ring there
Are the clanging chimes of doom"

[–] ryrybang@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

Anything by Elvis Costello. Can't stand that wanker's music. Like 2 out of 5 for any of his songs would be horribly overrated to me.

[–] Bwaz@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

Bohemian Rhapsody. Hated it on first hearing, still hate it.

Wait why the ss reference with Crosby & co?

I always interpreted Ohio as an anti fascist protest song.

[–] tastemyglaive@lemmy.ml 0 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Actually in its time probably KKKanye WeSSt (feat. Jay-Z, RicKKK Roϟϟ, NicKKKi Minaj & Bon Iver) – MonSSter

There are just unsalvageable bars in here. People were unironically listening to this with their future wives

[–] mbp@lemmy.sdf.org 1 points 2 weeks ago

Guilty. The song did age horrendously, though

[–] tastemyglaive@lemmy.ml -1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Also Rammstein is just awful and embarrassing goonslop pick any song

[–] backalleycoyote@lemmy.today 2 points 2 weeks ago

I mean, when I saw them the singer had a strap-on flamethrower and later spanked the keyboardist’s bare ass with a jizzing dildo. I don’t think they’re unaware they have a gooner theme.
