COVID was the dry run for testing horrible shit instead of being an excuse to jumpstart the transition from fossil fuels

Let the magnitude of how big of a fuckup that was marinate inside you. It was one of our honest to god last good chances. I’ll never be able to articulate how deeply I hate these people.

The capitalist burgerreich class has not spent 3 years disciplining wfh-attitudes and benefits to turn around and allow for this. They are gonna make you spend 40% of your discretionary income on gas, come november.

I'm really wondering what's gonna break first

gas being too expensive for me to justify driving to work? no gas at all? food too expensive for work to function? who knows

I'm wondering if people here will literally be starving and we'll still be told we can't take home food that's going to be thrown out

[–] marxisthayaca@hexbear.net 4 points 1 day ago

It’s gonna be a combination of gas and food prices

Covid revealed that on-site work is something worse than a wasteful luxury: it's wasteful making-people's-lives-worse.

[–] robotElder2@hexbear.net 17 points 1 day ago (1 children)

But imposing arbitrary nonsense on your lessers for a power trip is luxury to a boss.

[–] FloridaBoi@hexbear.net 3 points 1 day ago

It’s really part of their compensation

[–] SuperZutsuki@hexbear.net 10 points 1 day ago

Don't worry, they'll be doing reduced service when gas hits $10/gallon. Hoping I get a few extra days off when my private competitor delivery company can't afford to run at full capacity.

So if I run my heat at 80F and leave my burners on 24/7, I'm accelerating the downfall of American empire? Got it.

[–] goferking0@hexbear.net 2 points 1 day ago

One step further. Cars are now illegal. Trucks can stay to haul our stuff though I guess. NOT PICKUP TRUCKS

[–] mrfugu@hexbear.net 8 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Pickup trucks are allowed to be owned but they cannot be driven on paved roads unless they’re towing

pickup trucks are allowed provided they're up on cinder blocks in the driveway and look like absolute shit to drive down property values for the people most obsessed with property values

[–] buckykat@hexbear.net 4 points 1 day ago

Pickup trucks are only allowed to be owned by licensed tradespeople

[–] quarrk@hexbear.net 7 points 1 day ago

Enduring rations and war economy for no good reason lmao

[–] Elysia@hexbear.net 5 points 1 day ago
