I do kinda wonder what the final shoe to drop was. But my money is more on Epstein extorting more money/freedom than his handlers believed he was entitled to.
The fact that Trump took over in 2017 and Epstein was arrested/murdered a few years later suggests - to me, at least - that he maybe called up his old friend and started making a few too many insistent demands. And it occurred to Trump (or someone in his immediate vicinity) that it would be easier to just arrest this guy and wack him than keep paying him off forever.
Likely he pissed off multiple people by having dirt on them. People with infinitely more power than him, who will literally make a snuff film of you if you annoy them. So they got fed up with him, locked him up, had him murdered (on camera) and now they're releasing some of the dirt in a way that serves their interests.
I once heard an analogy which is applicable in this situation.
"If people buy drugs from one dealer, and that dealer gets arrested and sent to prison, do all of their former customers just stop buying drugs?"

- Is implausibly rich considering his skills and career history
- Is very well connected among the rich
- Nobody wants to be publicly photographed with (Re: The mistakes they made with Epstein)
- Definitely has a private jet
- Lives close to where rich people tend to gather (New Zealand?)
- Keeps a low profile
If we're going to find this guy, the first thing we need to do is figure out where all the world's billionaires are hanging out.

Epstein didn't keep a low profile. He was everywhere, taking pictures and glad-handing other plutocrats and showing up at events.
Like, if anyone is on your short list, I would think it would be Elon Musk. Musk's initial gambit was throwing a bunch of keggers at Stanford to make friends with the prior generation's Silicon Valley failkids. That's how he met Thiel and got into Paypal, made his first billion, and became an ahem Angel Investor for all sorts of glamour projects.
When Epstein was arrested everyone photographed with him had to explain themselves. Anyone associating with a sex trafficker nowadays would not want to be seen in public with them. As for Elon Musk, firstly he is definitely not smart enough to run a sex trafficking ring, and secondly he has a plausible (if improbable) path to his wealth.
Well yeah you can tell because we only saw a tiny sliver of his operation. We didn't even get Wexner. Netanyahu was celebrating like he thought Ehud Barak got burned worse than him. Diddy wasn't even in it so you know there are dozens of Epsteins. Clearly capital needs a way to bind together the self-interests of ruling class cliques and coordinate these ill-conceived illegal human research projects across different universities, even continents.

that's the most fascinating aspect about all of this to me: before epstein it was all popularly considered conspiracy theories despite the epstein people being publicly revealed to the world 3 times in the past century alone. it took an american government file releases to make the world realize that it was never conspiracy theory and it boggles me to no end that the american government has been releasing files for decades that prove the tankies are also correct, but americans still regard it as conspiracy theory (or near conspiracy theory) nonetheless.
but i digress and i'm as much a neophyte as you are to these (ex?) conspiracy theories. i started this rabbit hole w the polish expulsion of the jews in the 13/14th centuries because that was the first time that the frankists flexed their power publicly (that we know of) through the catholic church in poland and then follow the antisemitic bread crumbs to understand its vague relationship with judaism. tldr: the semitic people that would end up accidentally creating the abrahamic religions (hence sabbatean) started off w the ancient mesopotamic pantheon of gods and; over the millennia; would re-assign all of the other god's powers to yahweh except for two, baal and moloch. (fascinating side note: christians & muslims would later rename baal to satan and yahweh to god/allah, but that's another digression).
the frankist ethos was already in alignment w the ancient rituals attributed to baal and the sabbatean branch of the frankists were was also fond of the ritualistic child torture/sacrifice that used to be attributed to moloch; combine the two, fast forward a couple hundred (thousand?) years in intentional obscurity and you end up with the epsteins (and almost 80% of the western world's oligarchy membered cults).
besides the hundreds of other conspiracy theorists that it sounds like you're already found, professor jiang of predictive history fame and alex jones of sandyhook fame are the closest things to reputable you're going to find. you got to keep in mind that the epsteins admitted in their emails that they went to a lot of trouble to discredit/silence people who tried to umask them to the world, so you're not going to find much from "reputable" sources and what you do find has to be taken with a grain of salt.
Thank you for the condensed explanation. So first, i spent all day on hold and my brain is exhausted. I apologize for the ramble. Can I tell you my worry? It was only recently that we were discussing the use of LLMs to create bullshit documents in the Trump-Epstein Friendship Archive (TEFA) so as to try to hide a proverbial needle in a haystack. Here's my supposition: that some records in the TEFA are falsified with the intent of adding bullshit bigoted narratives to the historical record.

Alex Jones noted both when he attempted to publicly reveal the Epsteins in 1996, but dropped it when Americans collectively yawned at yet another conspiracy theory; as well as did the investigative journalist who tried to do the same in 1954.

Is there a systematic way to identify other Epsteins, based on what we know so far. In hindsight it was pretty obvious what he was doing.
For example go over the n richest people in the world, create a social graph, and look for suspiciously central nodes, where it is unclear how they got their money (or that have suspicious connections to certain agencies).
Just look at the guest book in billionaires's yachts.
