Honesty is not always better. The brazenness is a signal that in a decaying democracy Americans now longer have the power to reign in the executive branch. At least not without a new and more confrontational strategy.

What was the old strategy?

[–] thedeadwalking4242@lemmy.world 16 points 1 month ago

Pretend nothing was wrong

What was the old strategy?

Strategy?

Voting, contacting reps, protests marches.

[–] electric_nan@lemmy.ml 6 points 1 month ago

That shit never worked either.

Depends on what you mean by worked. I think it did place limits on imperialist behavior even if it did not stop it. We are now seeing those limits being breached.

Well if they previously had power they didn't have inclination.

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 17 points 1 month ago (2 children)

And, look at whats happening in the House, whats happening in the Senate: Democrats support this, or at least do not oppose it, or work to shut down opposition on this issue.

There are a few Democrats against this. But leadership supports whats happening.

[–] AlexLost@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago (4 children)

Yes, we all know and agree that dem leadership is a problem. Thanks for pointing it out for the 9,999,998th time. Thank God we have people like you out there...

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Thanks for pointing it out for the 9,999,998th time.

  • Democrats are so good. They only lost because you couldn't see how good they were. If you weren't so stupid, we wouldn't be in this situation

  • Democrats are fine. You're exaggerating. The only reason you think they're not good is because you fell for Russian propaganda.

  • Democrats might suck, but Republicans suck worse. You have to support the lesser of two evils.

  • Democrats are awful but everyone already knew that. Shut up, already. <-- You are here

  • Democrats and Republicans are an evil duopoly. We should support a third party candidate. Someone who is moderate enough for both liberal and conservative voters to support.

  • The Third Party is so good. They only lost because you couldn't see how good they were. If you weren't so stupid, we wouldn't be in this situation.

  • Bring Back the Monarchy

That's cute, you made a whole lil list and everything. Good for you! You are special. All one would ha e to do is look at my comment history to prove you wrong, but that sounds like work 😮‍💨

Condescension is no substitute for defensible ideas, but at least centrists are consistent in settling for the woefully inadequate.

[–] WoodScientist@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

And yet, people like you demand we vote blue no matter who, and insist that the time for inter-party feuding is during the primary. And then when there is a primary, you tell people to shut the fuck up and not criticize leadership.

[–] Reiterate9120@lemmy.org 4 points 1 month ago

"Are we still talking about the epstein files" vibes right there.

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago (2 children)

I'm sure you won't need to be reminded then, when people are being pressured into ABWD.

[–] explodicle@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I would like to know what ABWD means

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago

any blue will do

[–] AlexLost@lemmy.world 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Have no idea what that acronym is and don't really care either?!

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Itt: people who come to a political space, for discussing politics, and then get mad when you do so.

People are always talking about the weather, but nobody is serious enough to do anything about it.

Frankly, I wish they'd just stop mentioning it at all.

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

People are always talking about the weather, but nobody is serious enough to do anything about it.

Answer always seems to be to vote for different weathermen but sure seems to keep raining.

[–] Armok_the_bunny@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Didn't the senate just vote to stop this basically along party lines, failing because there are more republicans right now?

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Dems dragged their feet on a bipartisan bill for almost 2 weeks, at the behest of Schumer, Jefferies, until Trump actually did the thing and it was too late to stop them. It has literally been in the news since Khanna and Massie introduced the bill for 2 weeks.

If you interpret todays vote as "Dems oppose what Trump is doing..."

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

It has literally been in the news since Khanna and Massie introduced the bill for 2 weeks.

"What do you even want the Democrats TO DO about it?!"

points to a thing they should do

"Fuck you! That's not serious. It would never work. You've been baited into believing a utopian fairy tale!"

Our rules of engagement are bold, precise, and designed to unleash American power

Precise... sure.

Yeah we accidentally killed our candidates for a puppet leader. Exactly as planned.

[–] HowAbt2day@futurology.today 8 points 1 month ago

That FIFA Peace Prize is something else.

[–] fox2263@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I thought you didn’t have rules of engagement. Pick a lane dude.

[–] Eat_Your_Paisley@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

He said there was no stupid rules of engagement not no ROE

[–] thedeadwalking4242@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

So we are literally agreeing this is open war without Congressional approval?

"Warfighters" is so goddamn cringe

[–] FatVegan@leminal.space 2 points 1 month ago

It's something from a call of duty game where even the 15 year old cringelord goes: eeew

[–] HexesofVexes@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

I didn't know The Enclave had taken over pre-nuclear apocalypse...

[–] Gammelfisch@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

There is nothing precise about explosives and shrapnel. After these fucking morons deplete the precision guided munitions, it's going to be B-52 cells carpet bombing the living shit out of Iran's large cities.

Insane mental gymnastics to say "Libs bad!" Unreal.

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Biden didn't reschedule cannabis.

[–] someguy3@lemmy.world -3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Lol stalking from what must be over a year ago. You're just embarrassing yourself.

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Was already in this thread. Just pointing out that you lie and no one should trust anything you say.
