It really seems to me that when rich white men say something is because God wants it, it’s really because THEY want it. Calling your actions ordained by God is an extreme megalomaniacal projection.

Certainly not, but in the USA I find that group tends to truly believe it more than others.
I have a theory I call “televangelist syndrome” where someone tells a lie that makes them so successful that they begin to believe it themselves, and it becomes integrated into their personality; the lie becomes part of them because they’ve so adapted to it that to believe or do otherwise becomes impossible.
It does not benefit the actor or the audience to dismantle the performance and expose it for what it really is. But, when that performance is for politics and religion, that is when this form of untruth can create mass surreal insanity like we’re seeing now.
For instance: when some rich white asshole tells us to die in a war with Iran so God can bring about the apocalypse. Fucking. Bonkers.

The US will still be here as a power in 40 years
America has already been greatly reduced by this administration and it's actions. Countries are moving away from the US dollar as a global currency. If the dollar collapses...and it very well could if countries stop using it for the oil trade (some already are). If the dollar fails, US Power becomes somewhere close to Russia's current power. Sure, it'll still be a power...but it might never be "great again." That slogan is a blatant failure and a warning of bad things to come.
I think this sort of thing already happens we just tend to call them mass shootings.
We have the larval stages of terror groups, but they're no Al-Qaeda, Taliban, ISIS, Boko Haram, etc. The ideology is there, the following is there, it just needs a societal shift for the worse to be able to fester.
Yeah we'll not see beheadings, stabbings or stonings but might get random executions by gun in the name of the bible done by shadowy groups that disperse minutes after the deed.
I am no theologist nor have more than cursory knowlege of the Bible, but isn't Armageddon "started" by God himself, not an emissary, against the gathered armies of Satan?
And err ... the only ones who gathered armies are trump and bibi (who try to lure in others to join them...)
Is maga turning a blind eye again to the fact that this announcement of trump bringing about Armageddon points to trump being Satan's plaything?
If they try to proclaim trump as being God himself then there is a whole other level of delusion going on.

Welcome to the evangelical followers of Trump...the modern GOP (Guardians Of Pedophiles). Yes, they're missing the HUGE point that the only way Trump brings about Armageddon is by becoming the antichrist...which honestly, Trump is so antithetical to the teachings of Christ that he IS an ANTICHRIST. Maybe not THE Antichrist...but an antichrist(ian). Modern evangelical theology in America is NOT a true Christian religion as it views Jesus works as too liberal. They don't like that. Very few of them have EVER read the entire bible...despite their constant drooling out "catchy verses". They cherry pick only the things that can be twisted to fit their worldview. I'm not bragging, but I did read the entire Bible (although I skipped most of the long genealogies). It changed my religious beliefs and turned me against most organized religions (Christianity, Islam, judaism...all of the Abrahamic religions.) Now, I'm more atheist who agrees with the liberal views of Jesua. His main, constant message was to be kind to everyone and not be a hypocrite while caring for the poor, widowed, and orphaned. He supposedly healed the sick with miracles and usually told them not to tell anyone, but to keep it a secret...he seemed to avoid fame for much of how ministry...he preached a message, but asked for no credit for himself - if he existed, he tried to serve God and his fellow man. Modern evangelical followers cannot match Jesus' teachings with their own feelings and hatred (which draws on harsh old testament rules and laws and ignores the words of Christ. Tell an evangelical that they were charged by the Man whose name they claim to feed the poor, no matter what, and they will immediately regurgitate THE SAME verse, in which Jesus supposedly said that if a man won't work, then don't give him food. I disagree with that verse because there are disabled people in the world who cannot work. Plus, Jesus is reported to say that ONLY ONCE. He said to feed the poor, without any conditions, many times more. But, evangelicals are cherry pickers with a subset of scripture that they use to support their inner hatred of their fellow man. Islam and Judaism do the same.
I'll close this unfortunate wall of text with this: Evangelicals are a cult of Semi-Christian bigots who claim to love the sinner but hate the sin...but the truth: Evangelicals always have mouths full of scripture that warms their hearts filled with hate.
I am no expert in theology either but I am a comic book/sci fi/fantasy nerd. The source material for any good work of fiction is just that; source material. Later authors can use it as a frame work for their version but frequently retcon any inconsistencies with the original. Think of Trumpageddon like A New Hope: Special Edition. Instead of God shooting first now Donnie does.
