most men won't make $100000 a year, let alone a month

[–] mastod0n@lemmy.world 5 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

Kinda. I always treated my place like a workshop with a bed and computer in it.

After moving to a new place I tried to be an adult, get more furniture, hang artworks and such.

In the end I don't really like my place. I rarely use the living room part and my tech stuff isn't as reachable and practically organized as before. In hindsight I should have sticked to what I want for a home.

[–] Starb3an@lemmy.world 1 points 11 hours ago

My living room has 2 large shelves covered in tools and parts as well as a workbench. I have some limited artwork but I gave up on appealing to others outside of basic courtesy

[–] 0ops@piefed.zip 50 points 22 hours ago (6 children)

[–] yermaw@sh.itjust.works 2 points 14 hours ago

Also that magazine(?) that is both far away and really close and lying on the floor and also floating and somehow moving through itself.

I dont know 100% what it is but my soul rejects it.

Me too, I only noticed after another comment in here tipped me off. I'm just leaving a root comment to bring more attention to the fact that it's ai

[–] joshcodes@programming.dev 1 points 5 hours ago

Was going to say this, the cables are messed up

[–] jade52@lemmy.ca 2 points 21 hours ago

Yep - the stickers too.

[–] Tigeroovy@lemmy.ca 18 points 19 hours ago

Can’t even post a real male living space? Had to use AI for this shit?

We used to be a society.

Let's be real, do you really need anything more than that?

[–] KoboldCoterie@pawb.social 15 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

Plus, if you make $100k per month and live like this, you've probably got $98500 left at the end of the month. You don't need to have too many months like that before you don't need to work anymore.

[–] JoMiran@lemmy.ml 2 points 23 hours ago* (last edited 23 hours ago) (1 children)

This. The goal is to never have to do this shit ever again.

I have a colleague that just left the industry to become a violin luthier. Motherfucker doesn't even know how to play yet. That's how far they want to get from anything related to their work life.

[–] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 2 points 23 hours ago* (last edited 23 hours ago) (1 children)

Not sure you need to know how to play them, to sell them. Heck, I had a bow re-stringing apprenticeship under a guy named Howard Needham. He can repair any damage done to any violin. He doesn't play a lick. He ensures that at least one of his apprentices can properly play a scale to test the instruments. Or he used to anyway. Haven't talked to him in a couple decades, so he may not be with us anymore as he was in his late 60s back in '99-'00

[–] JoMiran@lemmy.ml 4 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

Yes, that's what my colleague told me. They did specify that the luthier school requires that they can play a little, but not much.

[–] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 1 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

Once you learn, your fingers never forget. I haven't had a lesson in almost 3 decades at this point. I pick mine up and practice once a month or so, but I can still just whip out songs at the drop of a hat. Unfortunately I never learned to sight read, and only play by ear. I can "read" music, slowly. I just can't read it at tempo.

[–] village604@adultswim.fan 2 points 22 hours ago

Practicing every month is the whole reason you can still play.

I haven't touched my French horn or piano in years and I couldn't just sit down and play anything, and I was really good at both.

[–] panda_abyss@lemmy.ca 2 points 23 hours ago

A chair will be good for your back in the long run.

[–] TheDemonBuer@lemmy.world 12 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Young men, maybe. I'm in my 40s and there's no way in hell I'm sleeping on a thin mattress on the floor. That would destroy my back.

[–] aeronmelon@lemmy.world 5 points 23 hours ago (2 children)

I spent the last 13 years of my life sleeping on Japanese futons and am now sleeping on a full box spring mattress for the first time since.

I can’t remember the last time I had this much trouble sleeping. What I wouldn’t give to have a “thin mattress on the floor” again.

[–] agamemnonymous@sh.itjust.works 2 points 9 hours ago

Most nights I sleep on the cheap, hard futon couch I've had since college. If I sleep in my actual bed too many nights in a row, my back starts to get stiff.

[–] lobut@lemmy.ca 5 points 23 hours ago

what's stopping you? partner needs a full box spring?

[–] lost_faith@lemmy.ca 1 points 19 hours ago

I never slept on a cheap thin mattress, but my mattresses have been on the floor for more than 30 yrs. You can keep your box spring and frame. And I'm 50

[–] RickyRigatoni@piefed.zip 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It's called asceticism, sweaty, look it up.

[–] peteypete420@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

How do you know they are perspiring?

Via the peersperation protocol?

[–] Hond@piefed.social 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

lmao that lamp is way to fancy

[–] YaDownWitCPP@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Why does it have a giant paper cup on top of it?

[–] Suburbanl3g3nd@lemmings.world 3 points 23 hours ago (1 children)
[–] wabasso@lemmy.ca 4 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

Ugh I got fooled again. I hate this new internet.

(Starbucks logo for anyone else looking)

[–] OrgunDonor@lemmy.world 2 points 22 hours ago

Not just that, but also the Plug sockets, the weird bottle in the top right, The sauce packet in the bowl, the laptop and its weird stickers. Then if you zoom in, the plug extension melts into the carpet, the writing on the note pads and a few other oddities as well.

[–] hOrni@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Looks neat and tidy compared to my home.

[–] ickplant@lemmy.world 1 points 23 hours ago

I have that lamp from IKEA. Really brings the room together.

[–] Emi@ani.social 1 points 23 hours ago

The only problem I see here is the glass, you can easily tip it over. Put it further away or on nightstand.
