I am thoroughly confused about what is happening here, but this appeals to several of my interests. Namely 12 foot tall decorative skeletons, hating on AI, and of course lesbians.

Welcome to the Tingleverse.

Buckle up buckaroo

I didn't think Chuck Tingle could get any better but here we are.

"The Tingleverse" seems to both so, so damn wrong and the only right way to name this.

Every time I see "Chuck Tingle" I think of "Chuck Testa."

[–] OldChicoAle@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

Nope! Chuck Testa!

[–] socsa@piefed.social 2 points 1 month ago

It's an older meme sir!

Are Chuck Tingle's books actually good in terms of being compelling love stories?

[–] oatscoop@midwest.social 19 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Define "good". The books themselves are (probably intentionally) written in the style of ridiculous slash fan-fiction.

If that's your jam they're actually pretty good. The writing is surprisingly self aware and the characters are well written ... for what they are.

This review of Trans Wizard Harriet Porber And The Bad Boy Parasaurolophus is worth a watch to get an idea of what you'd be getting into.

Good is anything I personally like

[–] Stern@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

Tingleverse is an acquired taste, but he does have books that fall under more conventional (and easier to say the titles of without raising a brow.) themes like Camp Damascus and Bury Your Gays which are both solid horror books.

Based Chuck Tingle.

Is this a dude writing about strange fetish lesbian fiction? Kinda weird

[–] greyscale@lemmy.sdf.org 52 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Worth the read, and Chuck must be protected at all costs.

Welp I'm a scaly now...

This is real? How am I just hearing about this? How am I just learning about Chuck Tingle?

[–] SkyezOpen@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Just look at the covers of his books if you want to be entertained for a little while. One of my favorites is "turned gay by the existential dread that I may actually be a character in a chuck tingle book"

[–] aburrito@sh.itjust.works 44 points 1 month ago

I see you’re not familiar with Chuck Tingle, you’re in for a treat

This is as close to a normal mainstream smut novel as chuck gets.

For more context, about ten years ago a bunch of shit heels (the “sad puppies”) got mad that “woke” books were winning Hugo awards, so they started a movement to mess with the nominations. Tingle’s “Space Raptor Butt Invasion” got nominated as a troll, but Tingle is a really cool guy and turned it around on them by writing “Pounded in the Butt by my own Hugo Award Nomination.”

[–] vzqq@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 1 month ago

Hugo nominated author Chuck Tingle is one of the best things to ever happen to the sci-fi community.

i want to start with "how dare you" but dr. chuck tingle is a treasure. his "pounded up the butt by my own butt" series is pretty neat.

So, you remember how, years back, right wing chuds kept claiming that if America got marriage equality, people would start marrying their cars? Chuck Tingle basically went "Bet" and started writing queer erotic fiction about everything fucking everything. People having sex with sentient dinosaurs, people having sex with sentient motorbikes, people having sex with their own self-doubt, people having sex with their butts, people having sex with Chuck Tingle's book about them having sex with their own butts, people having sex with Chuck Tingle's book about people having sex with Chuck Tingle's book about people having sex with their own butts...

It's all gloriously meta, written with intense passion, joy, and love, actually quite fun and sexy if that's what you're looking for, and defiantly queer. Chuck even writes sexless "Tinglers" for ace readers. Everyone just cuddles and gets headpats.

Just lesbian? No, of course not.

no Chuck Tingle Slander!!!!

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

they call him Doctor Tingle

[–] stiffyGlitch@lemmy.world 0 points 1 month ago
