i have never watched any jerma content, i just know what he looks like, so feel free to drop the backstory
Jerma's chat thought he looked kinda like he was in prison in one particular stream and he posed for a mugshot to lean into the joke. Someone then posted the image in the OP on reddit where it hit the frontpage, getting upvoted both by people who were in on the joke and people who thought it was genuine
The next stream opened with him being incredibly flustered about his likeness now being the archetypal face of a serial killer to a ton of people on the Internet

Jeremy Elbertson, known as Jerma985, is a twitch streamer and danger to himself and others. He takes joy in harming others, laughs at videos of car accidents on stream, takes immense satisfaction at a child being harmed, and has threatened to kill his entire chat. He is so monstrous that his viewers have nightmares where he kills through his stream. Its no surprise that he shares facial features of every serial killer ever.
I once had a dream of jerma when I was sick and I was trying to teach him how to play a roleplaying game and he just didn't understand and he just couldn't play I got so mad I woke up, and I was so upset at myself for having jerma dreams when I was sick because I thought it was slop and I thought my sickness was making my brain prefer slop
I believe it's chicken soup for a cold, and jerma slop for the flu
I don't know why it amuses me so much that the entire internet gaslights this poor man
