Well the thing is, if you are filthy rich and have such resources at your disposal, what is terminal for one person doesn't have to be terminal to another. Medical science has come a long way, alas capitalism has ensured the best stuff is only available for the richest.
You might say hur dur I live in EU land and we have (almost) free top of the line healthcare. Yes, that's true, hello fellow EU healthcare enjoyer. A close relative of mine still died while on a waiting list, as there were more patients than treatment options available. I'm not saying if they were rich they would have cut in line, but it does happen.
Rich people get treatments that aren't even available to people on public health schemes like you.
They can and will pay for unapproved treatments that no one covers yet because they're still experimental.

My grandfather had terminal cancer for like 4 years as an upper middle class man in his 30s back in the early 1980s. So I could see someone with Putin's influence being able to stave off the reaper for longer with modern medicine and effectively infinite resources.

Oh great now we're at the Kim Jong Il stage of his reign.
Kim Il Sung is dead but is still technically the North Korean supreme head of state. He is the "Eternal President" with his successors deriving their notional authority to rule directly from him, but apparently officially deferring to his corpse should the question of precedence come up.
In case anyone was wondering, Kim Kong Il holds (not held) the slightly less exalted titles of "Eternal General Secretary" (of the worker's party) and "Eternal Chairman" (of the national defense commission).
I was comparing with Kim jong-il because he was always very ill and they hid that especially towards the end.
